I breezed through 4 and 5, the only part where a slowed down was Dany's chapters, she really goes on a stupid spree for a while and it was hard to read.
Anyone know when they start filming season 4?
The incident at the end of Dances isn't a confirmed death yet, just an attack and stabbing. And Milisandre is there as well, with a confirmed ability to raise the dead.
It's been a few years, but I don't recall 4 being hard to finish. Book 5, though, I had to force myself to read to the end.
While I found book 4 to be dull, that was because it only included the PoV characters I didn't really care about. 5, I enjoyed, once I got about 1/3rd of the way through it anyway. Not every book can be filled with non-stock action, this is a deep, story driven series. Its not geared for the younger generation that lacks attention spans.
Re: GRRM killing characters that "matter" - that's the thing. No single character actually matters in the grand scope of it all...
If you have really not read the books, then this is so funny. You couldn't have been further off the mark even if you tried. 2/14 !
Yeah, if this mass killing of the best characters continues there ain't no way the hype will be sustained to see this nonsense to its literally conclusion.
HBO: Glory is fleeting and so is GoT. The viewing public will tire. Ratings will decrease. And this too will go where "24" and "American Idol" etc. have all gone before.
Just from watching the series, it seems kind of obvious what GRRM is planning:
...of course, GRRM might change this just to F with people. It's also possible that he's made it look "obvious" to misdirect the viewer, but we probably won't know for a long time.Daenerys Targaryen has the most rightful claim to the throne. Her dragons will save all of Westeros from the white walker threat...but Bran will need to control the dragons with his ability.

I sure wouldn't want to be one of the good guys if game of thrones were real. The authors need to demonstrate constantly how good doesn't always win and doesn't always get saved at the last moment pretty much ensures your neck will almost always be on the chopping block ten times as often as the guy that's a total douche.
Well, that is pretty much how real life works isn't it? Not many "good" non-douchebag CEOs are there?
The hordes of zombies are harder to kill though... And not everyone has obsidian weapons.
Just the CEO of Lenova (China) who gave all his workers the equivalent of $2300 US Dollars ($257 REAL) as a bonus when last years performance figures came in at 30% growth.
50% of their monthly wage.
I too am "hoping" the mother of dragons come out on top eheh
