Honestly, as someone who's never read any of the books, a lot of the "spoilers" I've read here from the book readers just make me scratch my head. It's like if someone told you the sky was going to turn green tomorrow, but didn't tell you how.

So honestly I'd go so far as to say GOT is typically spoiler-proof. Never mind the possibility that the show will further diverge from the book plot in the first place.

so can we finally talk about that chapter in DoD where Tyrion travels to the ruins of Valeria and uncovers a secret race of dwarves who build him a mecha suit so he can fly back to Westeros and punch his dad in the face?

That said, any show events up to latest aired episode should be fair game, imo. That includes if the episode just ended. So non-readers should simply avoid this thread until after they've viewed the latest episode. In that regard, they're certainly best off avoiding anything and everything in a spoiler tag from now until next season.

This has essentially become "non-book-readers should avoid this thread until March, 2014" since all anyone is doing now is book spoilers about how next season will play out. If we TV watchers posit a theory, we get a spoiler in return, "actually
this is just blank text
." Do you know how obnoxious it is to scroll through a page where everything is redacted, where if you hover your mouse in the wrong part of the page as you scroll you accidentally learn something you didn't want to know, where if someone makes a post with one small spoiler in it and you quote them to respond to the non-spoiler bit, you get to see the spoiler as a bonus? It's become two different conversations. There's no reason to keep them in the same thread.

I can't say I disagree, and yeah, that would be obnoxious.

Looking at pages between previous seasons, this thread does cool off quickly. In a few weeks there's not going to be much more to say until next season rolls around, even for non-readers.

I dunno, multiple threads have already been tried and failed. :\

Did you miss the part where Joffrey has Tywin and Tyrion fight to the death on the backs of pigs at the end of book 3?

Do they build 4 more for various characters and when they combine they form the white walker smasher of death?

I saw a clip of George RR Martin talking about hypothetical endings to the series.

my favorite was something like, "winter comes, and it's not so bad. the end."

Given his current writing pace, that might be the only way it could possibly end.

I was thinking, if Arya were to become an assassin - particularly if she'd be trained in the Braavos art of face-changing like she was in the Braavos art of sword-dancing in season 1, she might be one of the few things Daenerys's dragons and her army might not be able to protect her from. I know so many fans love the Mother of Dragons, so I wouldn't be surprised that Mr. Martin would mind-fuck them by having Arya slit Daenerys's throat in her sleep once she has outlived her usefulness to the story, especially if she were to start exhibiting signs of Targaryen madness. Something paid for by Lord Varys. :sneaky:

I'm all for Arya being sent to kill Dany. Dany has a weakness for children, so she would be the perfect choice.

I hope that Arya gets to whack somebody big and important and I think that's how it's going to play out. I'm just rooting for it to be Cersei or Littlefinger or somebody else from the south rather than Daenerys.

Damn people. The solution is really simple. Don't read this thread or don't read the spoilers. Read the books. I watched the first season, really liked it, and then read all the books before the second season. They're a great read.

Ok what's the deal with Theon in this show? They send a piece of skin to Catelyn and the torture stuff doesn't appear until the last book but this whole business with a dick in a box is kinda out there. Yeah he might have been castrated but they definitely didn't send his dick to his father which should be dead by now. Why are they changing so many things with him? Why not stick to the original escape plan if grizzly is what they're going for? They could have killed his bed warmer and had a grand time with it on screen.

The changes to his sister and their relationship is even stranger but I suppose it's because the father is still alive and they're going to avoid the whole ironborn succession since that was boring as hell in the books.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought that. Haaaaaaaaaaaated those parts and wish George hadn't wasted his time/pages on them.

Yeah but are they going to introduce the dragon horn?

Hmm.. I forgot about that. I suppose they'll have to, since it seems likely to be part of Books 6 and/or 7 (unless George just decides to scuttle that sub-plot completely).

Hopefully they'll just introduce it somewhat quickly in the series. I don't think I could watch a half-season about
the ironborn succession
.

The film producers probably want to take it slow to give Martin enough time to finish his books for future seasons. Balon doesn't need to die as early as he did in the books to disturb the main storyline. There are going to show Balon's death in some dramatic scene instead of the understated manner in the books.

There is no way that they are going to cut out Kingsmoot which would be a grand entrance for Victaron, Euron...
