I do understand not wanting to see spoilers, which is why I fully support using the spoiler tags, I just think separating the threads and making it so it's nearly impossible for a book person to take part in this thread is going to extremes. I do understand the necessity as some people couldn't understand when to use spoiler tags and when not to, it just seems like a case of punishing everybody when only a few are at fault.
As to the first part, I'm not saying I didn't react differently than I would have had I not known before hand, I just don't feel like it diminished my experience. It just changed it. For instance, you were surprised by the events, and maybe on a reread/rewatch picked up on all the foreshadowing throughout the previous books/episodes, whereas I caught them the first time through. Again, not better, just different.
Not at all. I only said that in response to techs' post.
No, I was just giving my preference. However, I honestly don't get why people get so up in arms over spoilers, like it ruins any possibility of enjoying something to know one thing that's going to happen. I respect that people don't like them, but I honestly don't get why it's such a big deal. That's why I advocate spoiler tags, not ostracizing book readers. If you're one of the ones that doesn't want to see spoilers, don't look under the spoiler tags........
Yeah, that's not me. I'm the one telling others to STFU half the time. I have absolutely no problem following television or books, I just enjoy knowing what's coming ahead of time, for the reasons I stated above.
My point is why do you have to? I totally understand TV people that don't want to know what's coming in the books, but have you been to the book thread? It's barely moving and the discussion could be so much more lively if it were here and people just used spoiler tags. There is absolutely zero reason to put anything that happens in the show under spoiler tags because if it's already aired its fair game, so it "should" be obvious that anything under a spoiler tag is from the books. My original point was just that people are getting too worked up over the spoilers (the few that I saw) and now we seem to have gone into overkill on the spoiler-avoidance rule. Just punish the ones that can't use spoiler tags instead of basically making all the book readers either leave this thread or be scared to post anything for fear they might give something away, whether it's under spoiler tags or not.............
