Game of Thrones - TV Series (NO BOOK SPOILERS)

What it sounds like then is there should be 10 separate threads for A Song of Ice and Fire in its various forms.

The TV show thread apparently can't mention that the books exist, even though the books are the source material and comparing them to the show is legitimate. But, posting about things that will happen in the books is a spoiler. And posting about things in the books that have happened is also allegedly a spoiler.

With that same logic, mention of the TV show shouldn't exist in the book thread at all since, while the books are currently ahead of the show, that may not always be the case and regardless, the books and show do vary, so posting about the show in the book thread would "spoil" the show for people who may not have seen it.

So, clearly, we need a thread dedicated to just comparing the books to the show, since neither the show thread nor the book thread can accommodate (using equivalent logic). That gives us 3 threads.

But in actuality someone who's only read some of the books or seen some of the seasons can't legitimately enter the show thread or the book thread, since that would "spoil" it. The only "equitable" result then is a thread for each season and a thread for each book. 5 books, 4 seasons plus a book/show comparison thread = 10 threads.

Anything less than that is a "spoiler!"

There's no reason you can't discuss the show in the book readers thread. Absolutely anything can be discussed there. There is simply no reason to complain. Just post in that thread and forget this one exists.

How is Dany going to take Meereen? The fortress looks impregnable. The catapults we saw wouldn't make a scratch on the walls. Are the dragons large enough to do anything? Will Dany settle in for a long siege? Will she make a deal with an insider like she did with Daario? Does GRRM have a surprise for us? A duex ex machina?

Based on the numbers of her current army, if she takes the city and ends up with even more soldiers than she loses, she would seen ready to take on Kings Landing.

So, I'm going to guess she settles in for a siege since I don't see her striking out for Kings Landing until the end of this season.

Yep, that is the whole point, she doesn't have anything else but a freed slave army, and her whole plan and line of thinking is to free more slaves and use them to build her empire.

Yeah but they made it clear first episode that the dragons are wild animals and hard to control. To take a city like that needs a planned attack, dragons can join the fun but not take down the gates I would think.

T'would be quite the shocker if Arya were thrown from her newly acquired horse and died within sight of the Ayrie. I could just imagine the reactions from her fans. The outrage would rival the Red Wedding reaction. That would be a most unexpected troll from the show producers.

They had 8,000 that were fully trained and ready to sell. They never mentioned how many they had still in training.

they'd have two thousand more ready in a year. The total training time was ten years. So they started when they were really young, and I'd guess added ~2000 per year average. So there would be 20,000 still in training, but most of them would still be little boys. You figure in a primitive era 16 years old was considered a man, so they'd probably start at 6 years old. So there's 2000 six year olds, 2000 seven year olds, etc.

You obviously missed the nuance of my post. I get why posting about stuff that hasn't happened in the show would be off-limits. What doesn't make sense is why posting about stuff that has happened is taboo.

Accepting the argument that is "spoils" the books for people who intend on reading in the future, I only apply equal logic to the other thread. If discussion of things that have already happened in the show, but happened differently than in the books, is verboten then the same rule must apply to the other thread as there is no guarantee that someone who has read the books has watched the show and such a discussion would "spoil" the show for them.

Not sure why this is so hard for you to get.

Simply put, based on our experience in the past couple of weeks, the book readers who used to post here (and are currently banned from doing so), were absolutely terrible (intentionally or not) in discussing changed things that have happened. These people ended up ruining the show for some of the watchers. Some of them were just show-offs, while some apparently have no understanding of the consequences of posting the changes that 'might' actually affect something that is yet to happen in the show. Considering how full of intrigues and complications and twists the story is, it's not hard to see why some book readers were having a hard time remembering whether or not this 'book thing that have happened in the show but it's a little diffeent' may affect some other changes in the show storyline, effectively making it a spoiler.

And yes, I completely agree that discussion of changed things from the book that already happened in the show could be a pretty good contribution to this thread, but because of the action of some people who just could not be trusted, we are willing to sacrifice not having this minor thing in return for a 100% spoiler-proof thread.

And if you think it's only fair that show discussion in the book thread shouldn't happen either, then by all means, go ahead and rally the troops to lobby the mods so they can make that happen. I'm 100% sure that all the show watchers in this thread have zero care about it.

It may be ridiculous to you, but many want to eventually read the books on their own and do not care for spoilers, likewise most would rather be surprised when things happen on the show rather than have some pimple-face google up the books and post what will happen.

I doubt as many have read the books as have claimed. They are just getting all GIGGITY-GIGGITY-GIGGITY over their Google-Fu upsetting other members.

If they only put the same effort into getting laid, the forums would be a better place.
