And we don't have to be a reader to know that we have some weddings coming up as the show has made it clear we'll be seeing some weddings.
And as it seems as though you have read the books (or enough of them), I think you're inferring that Rick is implying that shit is going to go down at these weddings

I understand that, however, another user (not Rick) was much less subtle about his implications.

I don't think the author has enjoyed most weddings he attended, going by the way all the big ones turn out...

In the books,
Mellisandre used leaches full of royal blood and cast them into a fire to curse Robb Stark, Balon Greyjoy, and King Joffery - all of which died shortly afterwards. I'm thinking she's going to use the boy for kings blood to fill up the leeches.

That doesn't really make sense.

If Mellisandre was just needed royal blood, she could just leach Stannis

I'd think that it's not just physical, but also leaching their life-force, which Mellisandre wouldn't necessarily want to do to Stannis if she wants to keep him alive.

As an entertained yet relative GoT newb, why does Daenerys Targaryen get such little or any screen time? She's like the best part lol! If you're lucky, she is last 5 minutes of the episode.

The leeching takes part of their life force; Stannis already had a great deal of his life force drained to create the shadow demon. In the book it looked as if he had aged noticeably after the shadow demon creation, but they didn't alter his makeup much in the show to reflect that.

When did she say that? I never heard it. All the old interviews were the opposite. http://fashionsmostwanted.blogspot.com/2010/10/how-we-met-polly-borland-and-gwendoline.html Those photos were taken over several years. So it wasn't like a one time decision.

Yeah, maybe not "regret" but if she is shocked by what she did then "what was I thinking?" is a accurate summation.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gwendoline_Christie#Life
According to Christie, she felt then that the photographs, in which she appears mostly naked, could help her come to terms with her body, and challenge notions of femininity. But in retrospect, she said, she was shocked that she had agreed to them.

http://www.stylist.co.uk/people/gwendoline-christie-interview
As a student in 1998 you collaborated with Polly Borland on her collection of photographs, Bunny, where you appeared mostly nude. Have you always been that comfortable with your body?

At the time it was exciting, it was the opportunity to share my ideas and for that work to be realised by someone. And I felt that it would help me come to terms with my body. It’s only in retrospect that I’m shocked I did it. It was giving so much of one’s self and I wouldn’t want to do that now.

You guys are asking for spoilers
In the book she wants to burn his bastard alive as a sacrifice. It is the onion knight who gets Stannis to make her test it first with the leeches, during which he has the bastard smuggled away saving his life.

It seems the leeches did the trick too, given that Robb Stark, Balon Greyjoy, and Joffrey Baratheon all bite the bullet.

That sounds scary when you think about it.....I hope she dies!

Don't be too hasty, the book series is called a Song of Ice and Fire, and right now things are shaping up to where the petty squabbles between mortal men might not be such a big deal as it certainly appears that there are at least two real deities* in the series, and they seem destined to clash (*the "red god" R'hllor - ie the fire, and the "Great Other" - ie the ice).

And while its still unclear as to which one is truly good or evil (that is if either is good or evil), wanting Melisandre dead when she's currently serving the side that, at least with the information we currently have, appears to be the "good" side...well wanting her dead isn't necessarily going to be for the better even though she might be a PITA for some of the more humble characters we've become attached to.

Massive spoilers on this page.

Though you likely already read them if you got this far. Least they're covered. Your own fault if you read the posts above.

I'm curious if Gendy makes it to the roadside tavern or goes to the free cities. He might run into Aryia if he does. That'd be an awkward moment.

well in the books, Edric Storm is taken to Lys, while Arya is in Braavos, of which those two cities are over 1000 miles apart, so the show would have to continue to veer in drastically different directions if they're to run into each other

As an entertained yet relative GoT newb, why does Daenerys Targaryen get such little or any screen time? She's like the best part lol! If you're lucky, she is last 5 minutes of the episode.

Part of it is that she simply didn't have that much material at this point in the book. Another part of it is that they're likely saving that material for later episodes; judging from the coming episode titles, episodes 8 and 10 look to be focused on Danny's story arc.

S1 had less stories to work with which allowed for more screen time for each story.

S3 has so many stories now that it's hard to create a focused build up. S3 probably has double the number of stories that S1 had.

Yeah.... I agree about S1 vs S3. I just with that with so many story lines in S3, that each episode was more than 60+ min, closer to 75 min might be appropriate to develop the each story line better. It's pasts week ep felt like nothing happened bc of all the different plot lines they were developing, slowly I might add.

Yea, I think he wrote the books in parallel for a reason, so many characters and plots happening simultaneously is a bit daunting, same with an episode.

Maybe if they had done parallel episodes, where each focused on fewer characters, but then you would have to wait a week to see your favorites.

Is anyone else as sick of Theon's torture storyline as I am? Even in the books it was not really leading anywhere, and I never really cared about Theon, even before that.

Can't wait for all the upcoming weddings, until then I don't remember anything exciting happening. And since those will not happen before season 4, the outlook for season 3 is bleak. There'll be some usage of the Unsullied, some action in the North, and I remember nothing else that was very interesting from the books that could happen before those weddings...

Eventually some people are hopefully gonna die!
That will also make the stories easier to follow.

Yes.... I just don't care about that guy. I figure he dies soon anyway. Get on with it!

I love how much is going on, I just wish they were dedicate more time to all of it. 12 episodes season, or however much they are going to do, just isn't enough. More detail, more storylines. Give us 30 episodes if it takes that much, just tell the story right!!

But then again, I know the budget is already high and that would just push it even further. Thing is, get rid of True Blood. Use that budget for this and air this show in place of that shows episodes. Problem solved!
