Can you guys recommend me some not graphically intense, good pick-up-n-play, indie games? It could be anything, from point-and-click, to adventure, maybe horror (for me) etc. Anything.

I built a media pc for my nieces to use in the our living room. It has an AMD 5800k APU that will be good enough for most light indie games.

I am currently playing "Brothers - Tale of Two Sons" on it and oddly I find it very very fun lol. And APU handles it very well.

I guess it's not all about AAA title games. It's a good change of pace after beating Metal Gear Rising on hard and playing a lot of BF4 lol.

Defense Grid
Guacamelee!
Spelunky
Bastion
The Binding of Isaac
Hammerwatch

Those come to mind right away as pretty good pick up and play ones. There are tons of great indie games out there though.

Rogue Legacy is pretty addictive and should run on that system without any issues whatsoever.

I can second Defense Grid and heartily recommend Bastion.

I'll also throw in Dungeons of Dredmor (roguelike), Minecraft, and Mark of the Ninja.

The Binding of Issac is my favorite game in a decade. I've put more hours into it then I did Skyrim.
I also recomend for Bastion. It is a fantastic game.
I would also recomend Space Pirates and Zombies (SPAZ).
If you like rougelike games be sure to check out Sword of the Stars: The Pit and FTL.
Don't Starve is also a decent game that should play way on your hardware. Although it gets old quick.

FTL is addicting. I easily lost my sense of time with this title.

Orcs must Die 2

Torchlight 2 - Great Diablo 2 clone (supposedly good mods).

I'm ignoring your Indie request because that 5800k will play these recommendations fine.

Castle of Illusion ( remake )
Sonic All Star Racing Transformed
Bit Trip Runner
Any of the Lego Games
Plants vs Zombies
Trine (2)

Yeah I strongly recommend "Darksiders 2" it is a mix between Zelda, God of war, and Prince of Persia. I just discovered this jewel last night after picking it up on a steam sale. It is a warm welcome from this Tired and boring genre of FPS.

Amazon has this game for around $7

check this link for gameplay on your AMD 5800k http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnTZ1WFmdSY

A lot of older games 2000 - 2005 games are no longer graphically ihtense for modern hardware. There are a ton of games too many to mention but here are a few i enjoy:
beyond good and evil
bg 2
M&M 7
titan quest
king bounty legend (2009)
ice wind dale
wizardry 8
(ok I like a lot of old rpgs)

The funny thing is that when you start talking abuot new indie games; old games have as good or better graphics but I don't really know what sort of game you like. I personally leaned towards games with stories whether they be rpg or fps but you might also have restriction on stuff like violence.

portal is fanstastic fun game with no violence.

Didn't say how old your nieces were so I'm not sure on the age/skill level, but here are a few I've booted up so far that appear interesting:

1000 Amps (puzzle/platformer)
A Kingdom for Keflings (Settlers type?)
And Yet It Moves (odd platformer type)
Aquaria
Braid
Bridge Constructor
Cogs (puzzler)
Democracy 2
Gish
Jolly Rover (point and click - maybe geared more to adult)
Legend of Grimrock (there are also some pretty good Mods)
Machinarium
Osmos
Outpost Kaloki
Puzzle Agent 1
Puzzle Agent 2
Samorost 2
Snuggle Truck
SpaceChem
Unstoppable Gorg
Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space
World of Goo

I have far more (over 300), just haven't had time to boot them up yet.

It'll depend on your personality but I found Don't Starve to be mind-blowingly good and just about the only game I can think of recently that doesn't insult your intelligence.

You kinda have to be patient, enjoy a game that doesn't rub your ego every 10 seconds, lets you learn from your mistakes and not to mention tickle your spirit of adventure a little as opposed to all the storylines on rail that only let you go into the only unlocked door in the entire corridor universe...

Not all indie games but your APU will run them fine:
xcom: enemy unknown.
world of goo
braid

I've only played the new version of xcom which is great. I hear the original is even better.

On the PC, I mix in quite a bit of casual or change of pace games between FPS and TPS titles. Most of these should be pretty easy on the rig. I’ve been dabbling lately with a few kb/m, physics-based platformers. Currently playing original Trine (Trine 2 is on standby). Similar games are Rochard and Capsized. All of those are enjoyable and beautiful to behold, but the Trine games may be the best of that bunch.

I have enjoyed the Puppy Games titles (picked up from a recent Humble Bundle, I believe) – Revenge of the Titans, Titans Attack!, Ultratron, etc. They use a cool, retro aesthetic – well, it’s cool to me. Also got Wizorb (Breakout/Arkanoid-type with RPG elements) and Jamestown (vertical shooter) through an Humble Bundle – both have old school pixel graphics and are great fun.

Also Fortix/Fortix 2 – a neat medieval take on Qix-like gameplay. When I go super-casual, I don’t mind a round of iBomber Defense and Flight Control HD – although both of those seem more tailored for touchscreens.

Other suggestions: Alien Shooter 2: Reloaded and Zombie Shooter – very poor man’s point-and-click variations of Diablo. Shank/Shank 2 are awesome sidescrolling, platforming beat-em-ups. I have heard great things about Mark of the Ninja (own it, haven’t played it). Shank and Mark of the Ninja are made by the same devs.

Pinball FX2 tables are excellent for quick plays (can save a game at any time). Just discovered I get much more responsive flipper control with my 360 controller than kb – who knew!? All games I mentioned are on Steam.
