well ps2 can play copied games that's one thing good.

please help.

Gamecube Game MYlee looks Mighty good.

Xbox DOD3 looks like a killer.

First off its DOA3. I have heard that it is just like the Dreamcast version of DOA2 but with better textures.

. GTA2 came out a couple of years ago, GTA3 is the brand new one. I just bought a PS2, but have yet to play GTA3 yet.

I was going through the same decision. I ended up going for the ps2 becuase of it's price (check hot deals forum). Right now, the games are just getting into their "stride". There are plenty of good games out and many that are now in the $30 range. Tha ability to *cough*add functionality *cough* to the system is a definate plus in my book. x-box and Gamecube are still a bit new. I would probably wait a couple monthes until purchasing an x-box/gamecube. This insures any bugs are fixed in the hardware for the next revisions, and the availblity of more games. This also brings lower prices for the 1st gen. games.

Like other people have said, its GTA3, but it is going to be released for XBOX sometime later this year. I'm not sure when though. Also, I just got an Xbox, after having a PS2, and I'd recommend the Xbox, because its newer and more powerful. Also, most games that will be released for PS2 will also be released for Xbox, but with the GC, you won't get the PS2 and Xbox games. Also, I'm sure that eventually someone will find a way to play copied games on the Xbox.

edit: Also, Xbox games are NOT $18. They cost the same as the PS2 games ($50 when first released).

1)Mostly a console gamer? Get the PS2.

2)Mostly a PC gamer? Get the Gamecube only if you love Nintendo 1st/2nd party titles and want them to complement your PC gaming.

3)Mostly a PC gamer? Choose Xbox if #2 doesn't apply to you, but you still want good consoles game to complement your PC gaming.

Ferocious, you completely ignore Sega games (Panzer Dragoon, Jet Set Radio Future, Gun Valkyrie, etc), Original Games that won't be ported anywhere (Project Gothem, DOA 3, etc.) and games that are ported, but improved (Silent Hill 2, Tony Hawk 2x, Genma Onimusha, maybe Tony Hawk will be improved as well. Who knows). Your comments about computer ports make no sense either. GTA 3 which is considered the best game on PS2 is coming to the PC for cheaper than the PS2 version. FFXI is coming to PC as well.


Forgot to list my current systems (meaning nothing older than Dreamcast to save some space):
Japanese Dreamcast (1998 launch console)
American Dreamcast (2001 cheap $45 console )
Xbox
Game Cube
PS2
Game Boy Advanced
Athlon XP 1600

Out of all of those, Dreamcast still gets the most play time. Rez and Shenmue II. Soon Sakura Taisen 4. Next would be Xbox since I want to perfect PGR (I still have 2 cars left). Game Boy Advanced with Golden Sun, Advanced Wars, Minna de Puyo Puyo and Breath of Fire. Then is Game Cube (Super Monkey Ball and Smash Brother whenever my friends come over). I'm waiting on Virtual Fighter 4 which is the sole reason I bought a PS2.

I personally have a PS2 and let me tell you, I have no complaints yet. There's plenty of titles to choose from and well after the success of the PS1 you KNOW that Sony knows what it's doing when it comes to the console market.

cant argue with the library,....which with consoles...is really all that matters.
i dont see a point in owning an xbox at all atm..
i have a pc,dc and ps2 to game on....
which leaves the xbox very little to offer for now.
the people i know who have the xbox are regretting getting rid of ps2 to get one....go figure.

my buddy has already been pestering me to trade.

As of this moment, it's not. It has been rumored however that Microsoft may be trying
to acquire Take 2 Interactive.

GET AN XBOX. I think it's the best console that you can buy now. Many of the best PS2 games will be released for Xbox, plus you get all of the Xbox games. GTA3 will be released for Xbox, MGS2 will be released for Xbox, and THPS3 will be released for Xbox. I have an Xbox and I used to have a PS2, and the Xbox is much better. Also, if you think about value (which isn't a big issue for consoles), with the Xbox you also get a HDD and NIC; if you want it for PS2 then you have to spend $150 extra.
