haven't the past idTech games (Wolfenstein) favored Nvidia?

Its doom. they have been talking about how old school fast paced it is. dont artificially limit pc users to 60hz. its ridiculous. I can hardly stand to play shooters at 60hz anymore after getting so used to BF4 @ 100hz

What I said has nothing to do with FPS. If you look at what I quoted, it referenced game pacing. This is the speed at which gameplay happens, not frames.

As far as we know that probably didn't happen. The last we heard anyone from id mention voxel octrees was years before rage even came out iirc.

These stupid charts that add min + average as a single bar. 280X has the highest average, and it's almost half way down the results! Will wait for a real review that doesn't use misleading chart methodology.

Automatic setting change could be really interesting if the game manages that real-time, turning down settings in particularly difficult to render locations in order to maintain a frame rate target. Gimme the smooth

But I must agree I will be extremely disappointed if it doesn't support FPS above 60

Seriously though, despite how terrible this game looks so far, I am looking forward to it. The 60FPS cap has to go though. My god does that ever have to go.

OP needs to change his post to clarify those benches are not apples to apples. Game auto picks settings and is running Nvidia cards at higher settings.

Apparently the game will automatically adjust settings, not allowing the user to manipulate (not amenable to logic, but apparently setting is determined based on the volume of video adapter). It is possible for AMD cards also used several lower settings than the NVIDIA older* (high-end models*), but that we learn to release games that will be available free access to the graphic settings of the game

So we advise not to use our test as a basis for making a decision on buying a video card for this game

So maybe we should check again when those settings are not automated without manual change.

I'll be looking forward to some IQ testing, lets see how the supposedly higher settings on nvidia look compared to the lower on AMD.

Exactly. Its possible that they have lower setting. No testing was done either way.

People claiming that AMD is lower as a fact are just as bad as those showing how amazing the performance is. Its an early Test to show off some features of the game, not to benchmark cards as even stated on the site.

It's not actually that far out of line with other games using a similar engine:

280X > 970. id Tech engines just favor AMD. If settings are being automatically adjusted, that should be investigated, but I have a feeling that AMD is still going to end up ahead.

Good analysis, looks like you're right -- id Tech really does nicely on AMD GPUs.

Yeah...but somehow I doubt it. id Tech 5 games were capped at 60FPS and id Tech 6 looks based heavily on id Tech 5

It needs SLI support and unlimited FPS or the game is a piece of crap. Its going to get pissed on just like Batman Arkham Night did. That game got absolutely PUKED on by everyone for stuff like that. Same will happen. No SLI? FPS cap, especially low like 60? Yep. Its gonna get trashed and labeled a consolized POS.
