I think the rule of thumb applies for this game. Whatever they say is recommended for GPU, you need twice that much power for a decent experience. So if 970 is for 1080p, what you really need is at least an overclocked 980ti for 1080p at decent settings and framerate. I don't know why they have to lie, but they lie.
That used to be true, but now I feel like the recommended specs are often hugely exaggerated these days.

Seems he didn't get the memo, NV doesn't gain from DX12. Welps, here is to hoping I can still get 60@1440 or I'll have to play in the basement like some kind of rat. haha.

You know, you can sell your GTX 980Ti at a nice price and buy a brand new Polaris 10 in Summer that will be faster and save money in the process

Why would I do that? I can just gift it to a friend/loved one and buy a Polaris/Pascal in the summer/fall (as I plan to do anyways), worry not of my funds/buying habits - I'm getting tons of OT at the moment .

Holy CRAP the moment has come. People are getting ready to ditch their titans and 980ti's because they will suck hard at next gen games and be fully Keplerized for this next wave. If so many games aren't going to support SLI and they will run better on a single next gen GPU, then I seriously have no issue selling off both 980ti's and just getting a single new GPU for no additional cost. Easy choice. Multi GPU has been taking a huge dump on us lately.

I've been doing that since I got into PCs.

I got burned once selling a Radeon 9700 Pro on E-bay. Not worth the hassle.

I hope Hawaii doesn't gain performance. I need a reason to upgrade just like you!

I couldnt do that all the time, especially when i was younger. But now many of my older hardware goes to family members.

Oh man the NVIDIA Defense Force is out in full swing today.
you are gonna get reported you guys need to up your forum skills in bypassing rules. just look at the posters you are criticizing, they are doing a perfect job at goading you guys. even slight mocking will get you reported, it is their favorite tactic. why fall for it? follow the rules.

it is no secret that carmack dislikes nv figurehead jensen. it was helluva awkward at the nvidia event that jensen hosted last year with carmack. any of you guys saw the jensen + carmack interaction? I just cringed just thinking about it now. the 3 top devs talk was nice though.

million dollar question. Is the Id engine agnostic? is it what a game engine suppose to be? or is it heavily favoring amd like some claim? are the claims just bs? hmm I wish someone can come up with a few benches for the current id game engine.

man, I wish every game gets an in depth benchmark and an analysis of why fps counts are the way they are just to get rid of fud.

Selling GPUs is part and parcel to my upgrade strategy. I tend to buy the highest end GPUs available, aggressively selling prior gen GPUs before an anticipated new release. If my timing is off/bad, then I'm stuck using an iGPU or some spare dGPU for a time, but there are plenty of older games that I still want to play anyway so it's not an issue.

Same here, it's always time to dust off my 5850 and play some adventure point and clicker games and watch some tv series while I wait for the new gpus.

I lose around 100€ per gpu from the price I bought to the price I sell it..

Every forward looking bleeding-edge game engine that uses the greatest features of dx12 is favoring amd by default. This fact is supported by multiple game developers on this very forum.

Oh, I know there are more aggressive buyers like that. After being burned a few times on sales transactions, I just rather not bother. The time it takes me to package, mail out, wait for transaction to finalize on top of the paranoia of the buyer just isn't worth the hassle to me. Plus, my habits tend to keep my loved ones in a some what rather up to date system for free.

PCgameshardware.de has updated the article and claims the presets for the game always are the minimum settings

pcgameshardware shows Fury X keeping up with a 980 Ti OC while gamegpu shows 980 Ti ref slightly faster than Fury X at 4k. so both camps seem to have competitive performance. not bad at all.
