I would've done the same. Video games are what I use to avoid going to drugs and alcohol. A girl can't give me the same relief a video game can. People may think that having a pretty girlfriend will solve all your problems but it wont. It'll simply make more problems, as from experience. Video games won't cause me half the hell that some girls do. I support this guy 100% with his decision. BUT not everybody is the same and not everybody will agree, all of us have the potential to act differently in such a situation.

Yeah because masturbation is exactly equal to sex with a hot and athletic real live woman...

She clearly has pointy elbows. Look how it protrudes out in such a revolting, sharp manner as shown here:

Careful. It appears that if you don't bow down at the alter of plastic, silicone, and lip injections you'll be branded "gay". Like that's an insult *snort*

This is going on in the boating industry as well. A number of young couples have hopped into sailboats and headed south to cruising areas. Luckily living on a boat like that isn't terribly expensive - most claim to make $1k to $2k a month from constantly making videos and utilizing sites like patreon. They certainly aren't getting rich. And as everyone knows, fame is fleeting and it's only a matter of a couple years before youtube becomes the next facebook and youth start moving on. So I certainly wouldn't be looking at this sort of deal as a long term income solution. What happens when the game he makes money on moves on and he loses the edge that makes him truly good? Anyone remember a guy named Fatality? The top 10 professional games in the world have all earned under $2 mill. While that sounds like a big number - it's barely enough to retire on if you have a family.
That Fatal1ty guy still lives on the Vegas strip and has transitioned into business and commercial real estate. It is not like he's a broke athlete.

This guy's Youtube popularity is double that of ErictheCarGuy subscriber-wise.

Also, he got 3 million views for his WE BROKE UP video and that video is only 4 weeks old.

Yawn...

Here we go again. YT is going to vanish. The internet is going to explode. If you have an opportunity to go after what you really like to do don't do it! Be miserable like most of America, and go to a job you dislike.

Where is YT going? It's the second highest search engine, first is Google. YT is owned by Google. It's not going anywhere. What about gaming? Is that just going to explode and vanish? It's projected that video games are going to overtake movies as the number one form of entertainment. Esports is also projected to be the most popular sporting event. Gaming isn't going anywhere. Fatality is doing just fine. He's done very well, and has invested his earnings The guy doesn't have to do anything that he doesn't want, because he's in control of his life.

We are living in a very strange time. Jobs that were once considered "safe" are going to vanish because of automation. Other careers are opening up that just 10 years ago would had seen unrealistic, like playing video games for a living. It's still difficult to pull off, but it's possible. I watch Dan's Gaming. The guy is kinda boring, but has a big following He's making over $100k doing what he loves. There is nothing wrong with that.

On another note, I have a buddy who does digital marketing, and runs a small company. It's just him and another employee. He just pulled a client for $10k a month. One client, $10k. To take care of their digital marketing. His goal is $50k a month, working with 4-5 clients. He does work hard though. Sometimes 14-16 hour days. Again, there are so many opportunities now that weren't available 10 years ago. Things change.

Wow, $2 million is where it tops out at if you are the absolute best? To add more to the batshit crazy, just three weeks prior he was talking about marrying her and said he thought one of the reasons a lot of people watched his videos, you know his main source of income, was because of his girlfriend.

Pretty interesting stats. You have to remember that esports is still new. If you think about pro baseball and basketball in the 60s. Many players had second jobs. Only a few were making great money, and the rest were just barely making a living. That changed as the popularity increased. As esports gets popular, we will start seeing larger salaries.

The next generation coming up will be the first Gen to be fully plugged in. Their buying habits, viewing habits are going to be very different to what we normally engage with. Esports by then might be as big as the superbowl.

Wow, just wow... a SALARY,... for playing VIDEO GAMES?

Holy hell, if I was only 18 again. I was a pretty high-level gamer when I was in HS / early College years. I won some local and some semi-national tournaments. But now in my 40s, well, it would seem difficult to compete with today's crop of game-playing youth, that have grown up with modern PC gaming. I may have gotten out of practice, but several of my close friends are still hardcore, competitive Gamers.

I was also on the other end of the spectrum - I was a game programmer in HS (mostly hobby stuff, I did all of the "classics", and wrote my own game libraries in x86 32-bit ASM), and did a less-than-one-year stint at a startup game company. (Got to work on one of the very first commercial MMORPGs, with some really high-level brainiacs from MIT and Brown and RISD. That was a blast.)

Career prospects look bright for the talented.

Esports already has prize pools for some events bigger than regular sporting events and will probably eclipse the Super Bowl and the NFL within a year or two. The top players earn millions in prize winnings in addition to sizable salaries and sponsorships. That's not even counting the income from Twitch streaming.

All of that may be very true but this particular guy, who from everything that I've read is mediocre, is never going to be the top CS earner. Sure he has the potential to increase his earnings somewhat but to break up with a woman that just weeks prior he was talking about marrying for that increase when they are both already making good money is just, imho, crazy. Still, that is his prerogative. To then very publicly shame the woman, who again just weeks prior he was considering marrying, in about the worst possible way for a publicity stunt is just fucked up and cruel.

i think this is one of the big things people overlook. streaming income is huge, even if the base salaries for pro gamers aren't (IIRC for LoL it was like $30 or 40k...was). and then once you factor in sponsorships, tournament winnings, etc...... yeah, you can do pretty damn well (just like an athelete in a traditional sport).

esports is pretty damn big and still has a lot of growing to do.

He might be having regret, so is now lashing out at his gf.

Have you ever had a girl and was like "she's ok" after you dump her, and then your friend chimes in and is like "man she is frekin hot. Why did you leave her? Are you nuts?" Then you think back and you're like "damn, she does look amazing. I took her for granted" and in the pit of your stomach you start to regret your decission? Well maybe this is what this guy is going thru. Instead of his buddy, there are tens of thousands of men who are telling him that he f*cked up. I'm sure she has had thousands of proposals for dates. So, instead of saving face he lashes out and it makes him feel better to dismiss and shame his gf. His loss though. She's going to move on and with social media now she'll be seen partying and hooking up with random studs. He'll be in his living room playing CoD.

Whoa - the girls Instagram is nothing but booty. It's public too. My guess is that is just a publicity stunt.

Sure but from what I understand the thousands of people didn't know until after he released the video. Hell he could have said he cheated on her, still been the geek hero and it wouldn't have been anywhere close to as bad as what he did. Or he could have just done the grown-up thing and said it's a private matter but we are both still friends or some bullshit, instead he went full retard and made worldwide news for breaking up with a serious hottie to spend more time playing CoD.
