Snopes has published a very inaccurate article trying to link GamerGate to the sexist /r/TheRedPill subreddit and claiming that GamerGate is a sexist harassment campaign. The guy who wrote the article seems to be a huge Feminist Frequency fan and is blocking anyone who asks him about it, so I doubt it was an accident.

Yes, unfortunately both sides have become even more radicalized and have now brought their bullshit into the mainstream political sphere, playing a key part in the 2016 election and even other elections, especially the 2016 and 2017 European elections and referendums.

Some do. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I think Kotaku left it at "If we think our readers would be interested we'll disclose them". It's relevant to point out that Kotaku is a Gawker property and thus naturally exists among the bottom feeders but I highly doubt like-minded "journalists" such as Polygon will do more either.

Problem is, a lot of the claims of shaky credibility come from the same mindset that accuses tech publications of bias because they gave an Apple/Samsung/Microsoft device a particularly good or bad review: you didn't rubber stamp my existing views, therefore you were clearly corrupt.

This isn't to say there haven't been ethics issues, but GG regularly distorted them out of all proportion... not only that, they often had their eyes on the wrong problems. There was an obsession with conflicts of interest in relationships, but a distinct lack of talk about most anything else, such as those outlets that accept paid travel for press junkets (which isn't many of them, I'd add). It was a 9th-grade boy's version of ethics in games journalism: only parroting someone else's criticism, never really thinking for himself... and of course, suppressing any mention of social issues that might lead to him seeing fewer explosions and tits.
