It has plenty of female characters (including ones that are purposefully non-sexual) and minorities. It has a lesbian character. It has an autistic character. The game just racked up its 30 millionth player and was one of the most popular and highly acclaimed games of 2016, and I see many more women playing that than I do other shooters. There are other successful games that clearly focused on diversity and toned down the pandering to entitled white boys, but this is the textbook example.
Not to mention that you have this odd notion that the developers of all these games both expect and require Call of Duty-level blockbuster sales to be considered successful. I don't think Nina Freeman ever planned to retire off her income from Cibele, or that Ubisoft would consider Life is Strange a failure because it didn't sell as well as Far Cry. Despite what you claim, the goal was never to replace the usual AAA shoot-em-ups with sensitive dramas. It's just about creating a space for those culturally savvy games, and acknowledging that the world won't come to an end just because a game's story doesn't revolve around a man's power fantasy.
