But the truth is there is a significant number of minorities in Gamergate. Gamers are after all a diverse group. While the people screaming misogyny and pumping out smears in the media are almost exclusively a certain type of white liberal hipster. When people disagree with or debate the arguments made by these people they are frequently called anti-feminist on the basis of opposing the ideas of some people who identify as feminist (even if their opponent is a woman who also self-identifies as feminist and has participated in feminist activism). And since these people see their views as intrinsic to the support of oppressed classes they view disagreement as a product misogyny, racism, and so on.

So long as anti-<someone's feminism> = anti-feminist = anti-woman = anti-human rights we've got a fundamental breakdown.

Frankly, I'm not even sure what target you're looking at. Plenty of people who are pro-GG (for example) believe that there are issues with the portrayal of women in video games.
