I am over sixty and still game a lot. I dont really see that age should have much bearing on interest in gaming. I am planning on spending less money on games though. I will start waiting for a few months or a year until the price comes down for most games instead of buying them right away.

48 here. Don't have the time to game as much as I used to but try to get in a few hours a week.

I'm actually a little worried about when I'm like 70 and can't game anymore.

I'm only 25 but I don't see myself completely stopping gaming. I've always been a more casual gamer and every now and then I'll get the urge to go retro and break out old games circa NES thru PS1.

The "games are for kids" notion is pretty dated, perhaps more applicable back in the day where marbles or jacks were the standard "game."

I'm 46 and still game several hours per week. Its still a great way to wind down after a long week in the office.

49 here. Got my first PC back in '93. I play more games than watch tv. Most of my gaming time took over watching tv. Not much good on tv despite 500+ plus channels it seems. Gaming doesn't lower my I.Q. any worse than television I figure. The wife doesn't complain. She'd rather have me at home gaming than out at a bar getting drunk or in trouble. She even games now on the PC I built for her. Her thing is mystery/puzzle games.

"I've 13 channels of shit on the TV to choose from"
Pink Floyd- Dark Side of the Moon

It seems the more things change, the more they stay the same. I didn't think TV could get any worse and then along came "reality tv". Now I only get broadcast, my TV is 25 years old, and the last time I turned it on was weeks ago.

+1 on that.

As compared to games from 10, 12 even 15 years ago, it seems that developers today are more concerned about producing crap, as compared to producing a quality product.

I can count one 1 hand, maybe 2 hands how many games I would consider great - Doom, Quake multiplayer (quakeworld), Diablo 1, Half-Life, Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, C&C Gold edition, Diablo II, Team Fortress Classic, left 4 dead 1 & 2,,,,,.

It seems to me that the majority of great games were made before 2004, with most of the truly "great" ones being made before the year 2000.

Besides Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, I have not had a game really grab me since half-life 2.

this...hard to find anything that holds my interest these days. Have about half a dozen games played half way through, no real interest in finishing them. Playing GOW on my ps3 now and it's fun. Team Fortress Classic was my drug of choice for years...so excited when TF2 came out...but it didn't hold my interest...just drained players from TFC. So sad. Now waiting for next Half Life to come out...

I'm 34 and love gaming although i'm trying hard to get outdoors and be more active....starting to feel a little like i'm wasting my life sitting around playing games.

There doesn't seem to be many games coming out that give me that "wow" feeling anyway.

You should give Fortress Forever a try, its about as close to TFC as you can get - and still offer something different.

Unlike tf2, in FF there are movement skills like bunny hopping, and grenades are still there.

I am 33, will be 34 in a month. Having a son almost a year ago has greatly reduced my game time. Never realized how much I would miss it. Even as a I get some free time and think woohoo fire up steam and let's do this! Then I realize all of the laundry, dishes, and bottles, etc. that need to be done then I go sad face.

Almost 39....go through spurts of how long I play depending on if the game is really good. I feel though that my reflexes are kept sharp by playing games for sure. I don't see a slowdown at all. I play more now that I live in a big city and not in a small country town where I spent more time outdoors.

I'm mid 30's, but I plan on playing until the day I die. I look forward to retirement and having tons of time to play, I'm sure my wife will love that. I'll probably just tell her that I'm fending off alzheimer's disease.

I'm 62.

My son got me into PC computer gaming back around @ 1992-93. Our first two games, I believe, were 'Aces Over Europe' (WWII flight sim) and a WWII submarine sim (can't remember name).

I now belong to one of the largest PC gaming clans... 'Rebels at War'. We have approx over 260 members, and play 'FPS' games such as 'Battlefield: Bad Company 2' and 'COD Black Ops'.

My website username is DFWallace.

I'm 30 but Aces over the Pacific was one heck of a game back in the day. Part of charm was how incredibly difficult it was and I'm a bit sad at how easy so many games are.

One thing I really recall is that I bought far fewer games back then and I played them forever. Arena:tES, Aces over the Pacific, King's Quest 1 & 2, Lord of the Realms II, Diablo, Comand & Conqour; my console games Dragon Warrior I-5, FF1,2,3,Legend of Zelda series (1,2, link to the past) & a number of classic sidescrollers like Battletoads and River City Ransom which I can still play for hours with my brothers...

Nowadays I have tons of games I play for 5 hours and never touch again while a few good games (King's Bounty & LoL) have basically consumed 1.5 years of gaming. There were probably a ton of crappy games back in the 90s but thankfully I didn't buy many of them.

The notion that games have replaced TV really holds a lot of truth. I watch some sitcoms just to spend more time with my wife, but I get my news online or on the radio in the car and what little free time I have after getting the kids to bed is spent either reading or playing games.

Games have pretty much replaced TV for me. Except for News, Sports, and a few Series, mostly Science Fiction.

I agree that it is hard to find games worth playing, but i disagree with the rest.

It is hard to find games worth playing NOT because they don't exist, but because there are lots of different games that you are looking at.
Hell your own list is pretty slim. where is AOE2? You also forgot basically every PC RPG. Rainbow six should be on that list as well. Same with Thief2.

Regretfully I wans't as big of a PC gamer back then, so mot of the games I played were on consoles, but there were plenty of incredible console games as well

Not 45 yet, but I dont see why I'd stop. I started in the early 90's, and its as normal to me as watching TV or reading a book.

I'm 31 and already disillusioned with the gaming is going. Am surprised you older guys are willing to put up with all the nonsense these days.

The older you get the more tolerant in my experience. As far as I'm concerned we've gone from the original Doom which cost 200k to develop, to some of the latest games costing 100 million in about 15 years. The money grubbers might be short changing people considering how much is being spent, but eventually the developers will work out most of the issues and the public will demand higher standards. In the meantime all that money being spent is still contributing to the growth of the art and science of gaming and some developers are still producing great products.

45 here. Don't game on the PC much anymore. Do play on the 360, Lego games, they rock.
When I do PC game, it's usually older FPS games with my 6yo son. He beat me in a 1 on 1 in Serious Sam awhile back. I was proud of him, but not happy my skills have eroded so much and I'll likely never have time/interest to reclaim them.
