Games for upcoming lan

Lanning next weekend with 5 ppl, but 4 player games are fine too. so far we have:

Left 4 Dead
WC3 Custom Games (mostly dota and enfos)
worms 4 mayhem (haven't played it yet)
Age of Empires 3 (Haven't played it but played aoe2 and empire earth a shitload)
UT3

Some games we have got bored of or whatever are

serious sam 1/2
dawn of war
titan quest / IT
possibly others


Anyone got suggestions for good lan games we could try? A co-op 5 player would be ideal I think, I played dungeon siege recently but 1 no longer works and 2 was pretty meh. I'm open to suggestions here people.

I'd suggest Alpha Centauri or one of the Civ series, but you might find it a bit too slow paced given the above preferences.

I did play Alpha centauri a long time ago, great game, but I remember 1 game lasting all day, and wasn't it turn based?

Sins of a solar empire looks interesting, I'm a bit worried about the learning curve though. Once my friends all show up we'll probably start things out by drinking or doing the shire thing and I doubt we're gonna be capable of learning a 4x game. I <3 Moo2 but trying to learn that from scratch when I'm not at my best isn't gonna work. Unless its not too hard to learn and I'm talking about what I don't know.

The call of duty 5 recommendation, tyvm, will add that to the list, I hear the co-op is over pretty fast but that's fine, means we can beat it. Hopefully its worth the price tag afterward though.

Counterstrike? I played that for like 3-4 years, might dig it out for a bit of messing around, tyty.

Well, SoE is out then.

Medieval 2: Total War is easy to pick up for the battles. Pick your army until you have no more cash, and order them to move to X spot or attack X unit. What each type is for is in the description, or it's obvious such as for archers.

Imagine the drunken fun of peasant armies clashing.

supreme commander is also fun on lan if all have good enough rigs so it wont slow to a crawl in large games

I completely agree with the supcom suggestion, but it'll be hard to get the rest in on that since I can probably beat all of them together.

Anyone got any other ideas? I've been checking out a lot of these games, gonna play multiwinia demo next...

Multiwinia is:

Easy to pick up
Fun
Multiple maps
Quick games - 10mins or so
Has COOP Game Play

I hated the game at first when a friend brought me on to it. Then I warmed up to it. It's a great game to through in the mix of a lan night

Just thought Id add some oldschool strategy in there. Thats what we enjoyed back when I had lan parties.

What is the learning curve like on Dungeon Keeper 2? I hadn't heard of it before but the ign review was very favorable, and it certainly sounds decent.

Yea, goodcall. I didnt realize that there was a worms between armageddon and mayhem, 2d is the classic I'm used to.
