As far as sequels are concerned, I'm on the fence as a whole:
- I'd want a sequel only in that I've enjoyed the original game
- The chances that the original will stay faithful, in terms of quality, is in inverse relation to:
- The game company/rights-holder switching hands
- The time between the original and the sequel
- Because oftentimes the original game will bring something innovative to the table and that's their "hook"/key to success: but by the time that the sequel goes gold . . . after the rights have been secured and new hands/teams get to it, it's simply not innovative anymore/it will be an entirely different beast. Just for example, look at all the posts that name a certain game "X" and say "X2" didn't count. As sad as it is to say, yeah it did count because that's what the rights-holders/publishers say counts.
