I finished Tomb Raider about two days ago, it was a superb game overall, although I have to say that it was too easy due to Easy Mode (A.K.A Survival Instinct Mode). Don't know where to go or what to do next? Look for the glowing stuff, problem fixed.
I honestly had a bit of a problem suspending my disbelief trying to convince myself that the glowing stuff really was what Lara "herself" was seeing. On the contrary, I perceived that feature as a way for the developers to basically discard the player's own potential "to look around" just as Lara really would have. But it's us ultimately, the player, whose looking at the screen, not Lara (that's the part I couldn't immerse myself into). There's too much glowing stuff that drastically reduces the necessity to think.
But other than that (and that "issue" alone, because honestly I had no other problems at all with the game) the animations were sublime, the ambient music fitting, the general atmosphere immersed me (and the environment itself very well crafted, it really does 'feel' and look like an island untouched by modern civilization and forgotten in time), the voice acting was good, the story was entertaining, the graphics were detailed (and the hair physics pretty neat as well, I had basically no slowdowns unless by coincidence and rarely so the camera would get too close to them), the controls responsive. I mean it's all there, a great package of fun and to think... I paid it $8.00 on GmG.com, it was a steal, it's easily worth its full initial price and the devs deserve a round of applause for their work and dedication.
Next time, however, please just remove Survival Instinct mode guys (speaking for myself here).
