Got my game for 20 dollars from kmart after using my 20 dollar coupons I got from Gears and Deus Ex. Plus I got another 20 from buying Dark Souls. Pretty sick.

Ordered the hardback futurepress guide from amazon and I'm supposed to have it tomorrow but it hasn't shipped yet. Not using it first playthrough of course. I just wanted it because it's like 400 pages and the bayonetta futurepress book goes for like 200 on EBay.

I preordered the guide too and it hasn't shipped yet (estimated delivery is Oct 6th), for the same reasons (but I'll never sell mine). Give me all the Dark Souls memorabilia I can get!

EDIT: Amazon just emailed me asking for 'approval' to delay the shipment of the guide..

WTF amazon?! What is it about Dark Souls that causes you to mess up so lol

I assume it still has voice chat whenever someone is in there with you though, right? Why the hell would they disable party chat, anyways?

And I just got my copy from Amazon as well. Had release date shipping and Amazon said it should have been here yesterday. First time they've missed the release date for me so far.

The dev stated that he didn't want this to be a game where you played and talked with chums, as he felt it ruined the atmosphere. He wanted it to be like you were interacting with mysterious, silent strangers.

And I just got my copy from Amazon as well. Had release date shipping and Amazon said it should have been here yesterday. First time they've missed the release date for me so far.

Drove around to my six local Gamestops today. Sidenote on that: we have a store that is located at most, 100 yards down from another Gamestop. Across the street, in another strip mall. Blew my mind.

Between the six stores, none of them had any collector's editions available, but I did pick up the remaining four hardcover guides available. Opened one, selling one, and hoarding the other two. Thanks for the tip on that. I thumbed through it and it appears to be a very top-notch guide! Great bathroom book.

I got my PS3 CE copy today. The "collectors" content is pretty lame IMHO. It's fine and all that I got it for "free", but I would have been happy with just the game and looking on the net for help, which is essentially what you have to do now anyway with the downloadable code retardation, lol. I should have waited until it dropped in price a bit instead of preordering, oh well, live and learn I guess.. The artbook really doesn't do anything for me, and a metal case.. wow, big deal. Now, if the guide would have been a physical guide that would have likely changed my opinion.

Although, i'm not really one to get excited about game extras in general and have never ordered a collectors edition before. So I guess take what i'm saying there with a grain of salt.

I did the same. 1 GS in my area had 1 copy. Guide is sick. Not using it until second playthrough though. Except I need to use it to find where the orb is that let's you invade. I'm 20 hours in, killed several bosses and mid bosses and still have no idea how to get one.

I still don't how my game. It has been 'out for delivery' since 6am, which was almost 12 hours ago haha. Not that I could play tonight. I have too much homework

Been playing this and wow, it is better than the first. I only got about 2 hours in and I do already hate the community. "Safe Area Ahead" my ass... But other than that, it is great. Haven't had a boss fight yet, but I am looking forward to it.

Game is tougher than the first. Not really tough but if you don't know what to do then die-trial/error and also the the gameplay seems to be everything I loved about the second. player character models look a lot better so non-armor wearing characters aren't completely ugly to look at.

Overall the game is amazing.

Yeah it really is better than the first. I don't think it is harder but maybe that's because I played the first so much.

I've beaten:

Taurus Demon
Armored Boar
Twin Gargoyles
Butterfly demon
Titanite demon
Hydra
and a bunch of black knights

and none of them were very hard. I know there is a ton more bosses though. I'm 20 hours in, level 32 and have barely scratched the surface.

Edit: It is very tough if you go the wrong way at the beginning.

Yeah, don't go to the graveyard area once you reach firelink like I did.. I played the game for maybe two hours last night and spent most of that time beating a few skeletons, dying, then going back to get my souls and repeating the process. lol

I read the mini guide today and it specifically says to avoid that area when you're just starting out. Wish I would have read it before I started the game, haha.

Never found the "first" game to be too difficult. I mean, YEAH, it's was HARD, but I was expecting a lot worse. If you played smart and got good equipment, it wasn't that bad.

Yeah, and a metal case..lol People over a cheapassgamer have been freaking out about best buys and gamestops not having CE's in stock. And I guess some Amazon pre-orders are also not CE versions now because they ran out of them. Which kind of sucks because that was a pre-order bonus, but the CE version is pretty lame IMO so there's nothing to really get upset over if you don't get one.

Just buy the regular version and download the mini-guide "somewhere", and you're all set.

Wow, they completely ruined the coop in this game compared to Demon Souls. Apparently it puts you in random servers and if your friends don't somehow end up in the same one, you'll never get to summon each other. Boo. It's why I loved the first one. Summoning random people that I can't talk to is gay.
