Anyone else here get to that area in the forest that you use a seal to open?

The guys there give me 1k and 2k souls each and they respawn when you camp. Seems like a bug to get that many souls from a kill. Plus with a campfire right next to the door, I really don't feel like dying matters as much anymore because I can just go get all the souls I want there. 10 minutes there is 10k+ souls easy.

10 minutes? Are you not aware of the enviro-kill method there, or just not using it? 10k there shouldn't take more then half a minute.

Yep. Game is partially ruined for me. Souls no longer have any value to me when I have an easy unlimited supply.

It was just as easy in Demon's Souls. The sword from 4-1 you could get immediately. You could easily dupe anything, and if not, go to 4-2, shoot the guy at the beginning, collect souls, suicide and repeat.

Anyways, was level 35ish or so, just rang the 2nd bell, and my HD got corrupted or something like that. I now get to restart. Yay!

I don't remember anywhere in Demon's Souls where you could farm so much souls in such a short amount of time, or maybe I was lucky enough not to find it..

In Demons Souls 4-2 killing the one reaper killed all his minions, netting you something close to 10k in a few seconds. And on NG+ combined with soulsuck and black phantom dual-katana skellies, you can get up to 200k souls per minute run.

300k in 5 minutes. 7k in under a minute. 32k in 1:30. Dupe that 200k soul, and its much quicker. It was just as easy, or easier, in Demon's souls. You've always had an easy, unlimited supply, if you chose to. I'm not sure how something optional can ruin the game. Just don't use it.

You are right. So when I need to farm souls, I should just kill the guys that give 100-300 per kill instead of the ones right around the corner that give me 2k per.

Sure, if killing those 2k per ruins the game for you, you should.

Anyways, not sure what I'm gonna make next time.. I haven't used any magic yet, so possibly that.

It's like designing a game where you can press "A" 10 times to beat it, or "B" 100 times to beat it. It's really bad design.

I also like to drive 10mph in a 60 zone, and 5mph when I'm late for work.

Argue all you want. It was even easier in Demons Souls. If its seriously that "game breaking", don't do it. Your analogies suck btw. Also, mobs will level up with you, stats diminish, and most weapons that upgrade with stats suck.

I've never seen any indication that either game actually had enemies that scaled with your level.

Beyond that....crimeny, how many levels are you guys grinding out? Any single level means relatively little, the cost of the next level gets severe very quickly, and it's not as if sufficient levels is enough to protect you. I grinded out to level 65, and all it's done is reduce the amount of deaths from "Absurd" to "Large". Equipment is far more important then level.

Nah my analogies are good.

You can get there fast or slow, both methods involve basically the same process, so obviously you choose the fast option, making the slow option a complete waste of time.

Suggesting people take the slow route because it makes it harder... Right. You may as well tell them not to wear armor or reinforce gear either.

I never said it was game breaking, only that it partially ruined the game for me. I really liked having such a fear or death and having to recover. Maybe later in the game all enemies give 1000+ souls each and item/level cost becomes much higher. I don't know yet, but as it stands, because of the forest farming, I don't care much at all if I die and lose 15k souls.

Farming basically control difficulty level. If you farm a bunch, you are putting the game onto easy mode. Being able to farm effectively just makes it easier to switch difficulties.

I got the drake sword but the game is still pretty hard playing a strength build with heavy armor, for me at least.. It did help me for little while, but i'm now realizing I can likely craft a higher damage sword since other weapons will scale with your attributes. (I just rang the first bell BTW) I now understand why they didn't allow the drake sword to scale.

Although I did read that you can level it up with a certain kind of upgrade shard/crystal, or whatever, later in the game..

Enemies definitely do not scale in levels with you. There is a level change for them every NG+ up to NG7 and then that's it

Enemies don't scale, however, grinding out levels helps make the game easier. Having to fight a line of like 15 bosses, granted he should have been a mini boss to begin with, gets a little exhausting. More so when they respawn like regular mobs. >_>

I am finding this game no as difficult as Demon's Souls, but I still am enjoying it. I've rung both bells and when into that area and fought that "boss" (lets face it, he was a gimmick boss and so easy to fight...) and am thinking about either following threw "hell" or going to the snake head people place. I think I am around level 54 or so right now.

No amount of grinding will keep you out of all troubles though. Falls, lethals traps, and armor-ignoring enemies with noclip - there isn't an easy mode to this game.

Grinding 99 vit and 99 end will help a lot though. Sure, nothing will make the game "easy" except playing a lot of Demon's Souls. >_> I don't think I've died to a boss three times before beating him. I think he hardest boss so far as been the Asylum demon in the tutorial, and that is only because I had to gouge him to death with my broken sword as a depraved! That hammer was totally not worth it either...

I think it's great that there are so many ways to exploit the game. The developers obviously put things like this in the game for people that are smart enough to figure it out.

Yeah this seems easier than Demon's Souls to me but most people say it's harder. I 1 shotted several bosses, Gaping Dragon, Quellag, and the one from the painting plus several of the mid bosses.

I don't see a problem leveling at the forest if you need to but I hope that infinite soul/humanity glitch from the Dragon stone head gets fixed quick. It's already probably too late. I tried it and got a million souls and 99 humanity then killed myself and didn't grab my body. Just wanted to see if it works. I didn't spend any of it...still level 50 something

haha I didn't have the patience for it. I stabbed him several times, looked at the damage and left. I guess I gotta do it on a new character or something.

Apparently you can cheese the fight with the black firebombs perk or whatever. Totally not worth the trade off of the master key though.

I think the game is much easier, but that might be because I played so much Demon's Souls. It might get much tougher on NG+ though (I hope). I guess I can't be judging too much because I have only just rung the 2nd bell.

Maybe my next playthrough won't be with a strength hero. I haven't heard of that stone head glitch though.
