Probably not. They do offer a good boost to the recovery power of the flasks, but you really only need that once you start raising your VIT. If one flask isn't enough, just use two in a row by quickly pressing the use button again after the animation is about halfway done. If you're running out of flasks too quickly you can kindle your bonfires for more flasks per rest.

You can obtain up to 7 fire keepers souls throughout the game. However, some involve killing a firekeepr so you probably don't want to do that. Well, you can probably safely kill Quelaag's Sister.. unless you really want to join her covenant.

Continuing the straight melee-blocking build, I nearly snapped my controller in half when reaching the rockworms in the demon ruin. Being stationary, I'm sure ranged damage would have killed them without a problem. But trying to melee them when they have a 100% damage unblockable was a nightmare. You can't bait them either.

To top it off, I found out I shouldn't even have been there because I ran into a dead end.

I have a feeling I'm massively OP because I sucked so much and leveled up as a result. I'm over level 60, sporting Havel's armor, a stone shield and a +4 Black Knight's Axe that I use one-handed. I've only made it up to Seathe.

Can anyone else comment as to what level they were at when they got to certain points in the game?

Thank god Skyrim comes out this week. My wife keeps asking me why I keep playing a game that makes me go into fits of rage every 10 minutes .

Are you talking about the bridge section with like 6 of them where you get the large flame ember at the end? You can bait their attack, roll back, then hit them when they're moving back up. You probably need have 50% or less equipment burden to do it without getting hit.. At least that's the way I did it. I can kill them in two hits with a +4 lightning Zweihander and 40 STR, which is a weapon I highly recommend for melee builds because of it's long reach and amazing damage once you've upgraded it to lightning. meh.. My excitement for Skyrim is pretty low since it seems be nothing more than a slightly updated Oblivion for the most part, which was far less enjoyable than either Demons Souls or Dark Souls for me. It was just too dumbed down and the difficulty was a joke. IMO of course..

I'll probably wait a year and pick it up after a few decent user mods have been released.

I was playing that part last night. My strategy is to lock onto them, then keep backing up slowly with my shield drawn and bait them into attacking. If you do it right you won't get hit. Study their attacks. The two handed overhead one has a longer recovery time so that's the one to get a good hit in after. I wouldn't suggest attacking during the side swipe attacks as they can go for two or even three swings. Use a longer range melee weapon for the most damage per blow, like a greatsword or ultra greatsword. Just take your time and try to fight them one at a time and you'll make it through. There's a bonfire after the first stair section, under the hallway you come in on. And you only have to fight one of them after resting and recovering there.

I really can't see how you guys like the ultra greatsword zietgiest or whatever over any other weapon. That thing is so slow. Sure it hits slightly harder than my Furysword, however I can get in 3 hits before I can recover from one with that thing. I wish I had gotten a demon spear though.

If you're having trouble with just about any enemy in the second half of the game, use Sif's soul to build the Greatshield of Artorias and now you can block its attacks without losing much stamina at all. No matter what it is. The jump from 84 to 88 stability is huge - I think the formula for stamina loss must be something like [(100-Stability)/100]*damage, so you can see why a few points of stability at the high end matter quite a bit while a few points at the low end do not.

I can chain kill most enemies with my +4 lighting Zweihander in 2 hits or less with the R2 attack because of the stagger effect. (I currently have around 40 STR and END) You have to get the timing down, but once you do you'll be mowing through most enemies. This is especially true for a lighting upgraded Zweihander. Mine does over 700 damage per hit with the R2 attack one handed.

Edit: I also have a +5 Furysword that I use for certain situations. That sword is great for enemies I can't stagger with the Zweihander, like bosses or larger enemies.

This time I decided to try a Pyromancer/DEX kind of thing. Pyro is freaking hacks man. Makes many encounters trivial. Made fatbro and slimbro fight insanely easy.

The highlight of this run though has been Quelaag's Furysword. LOVE this weapon. Very, very fast with solid damage.

Lightning+5. Don't compare a fully upgraded elemental weapon to a not fully upgraded normal weapon

EDIT: Also I was talking about one-handed damage. I usually use it one handed.

Yes, pyro is OP.

Furysword is also a nice dex weapon. Its one of my favorites. I heard it is getting nerfed in the patch though, which is probably justified.

I did it for a while last night to get my INT up to a reasonable level.

I did it for a while last night to get my INT up to a reasonable level.

I farmed the stone giants in there for quite a bit because I was trying to kill the Titanite Demon by the blacksmith.

Biggest place I farmed was the Silver Knights in Anor Lando. You'll know it when you get there. There's also a place in the Catacombs waaaayyyy at the end where you can farm infinite souls and humanity if you have the patience. You can probably make about 5-7k souls per minute there forever. However, at that stage of the game I was at about 45k+ per soul level and wanted to push forward with the game.

I did it early on to build up my STR so I could wield the Zweihander. Farmed till I gained maybe 5-7 levels.

yea, i was farming there last night for about 110+ souls so i could buy absolution (reset my sins)... come to think of it, i think that was a waste of time.

oh i need help. how do you get the item on the cliff at the beginning of darkwood garden? its on the left hand side when you are going towards the Crest of Artorias bonfire.
