The CAG16 code works for an additional 16% off but this nullifies the free 3-day shipping (but you can use SAVER for free 5-10 day value shipping). I was already tempted to get RB2 through this promotion, but these codes sealed the deal - I cannot resist.

EDIT: Doesn't appear to work anymore.

Yeah, they must have caught on, it doesn't appear to work anymore.

I guess I was lucky, I got it to work when I checked out.

makes me look like an ass for paying, what, 180 for the original kit?

if anyone is considering between RB1/2, i would buy the latter for the better drums (which used to be like 80 bucks on their own).

the newer drums with the optional cymbals is pretty epic. besides being nice to play on, in fills you have three toms and three cymbals to work with.

I know nothing about GT or RB but i'm thinking of getting into it....

A couple of questions, mostly about the drums.

1). Is there, like, a free-play mode? Where you can just bang on the drums without playing the game?

2). Are they midi? Will a real electro drum kit work? Will these work as midi triggers for other things?

3). I know there are multiple kits out there. Which one is the best?

I've tried to look into all of this but it's really kind of confusing which series and which console works for what games and....

Looks like the 360 version of RB2 has sold out as has the PS3 version of RB1.

complained to Gamestop about the free shipping, and they gave me $10 off more than $10's of purchase. I'm gonna apply this to SF4 when it comes out to the PC

Scooter:

1) There's a no fail mode in RB2 so you can just bang around

2) To my knowledge no. They make a special kit that doubles as a real electronic drum kit, but you can't just plug in any electric drum kit

3) That's personal preference. I prefer the RB drum kit over the GH drum kit, but prefer the GH guitar over the RB guitar. (RB guitar is a bit narrower, I "grew up" using the GH buttons which are spaced further apart)

If you have a friend with both, ask to borrow their kit for a few days

And it's out of stock again. Hopefully some more come in... I want to pick this up. At $150+, there was no way I was going to do it, but for $95, sure.

There's "no fail" mode, and there's "free play" mode. They're different but both allow you to bang as much as you want without failing. Expert mode is NEARLY 1 to 1 on most songs already, and all RB songs have solo fills where you hit whatever you want for 1-2 measures.

There is an electrodrum kit that works with RB2, and its the only one I know of by Ion. Guitar Hero WT supports midi drum kits.

People go back and forth on the "best" claiming the same things for both kits. You really have to try them both and see which one you prefer.

Looks like RB2 and GHWT are now completely sold out. Others are selling out. Got in on RB2 for PS3 before it sold out, but not before they discontinued the extra coupon. They still haven't shipped 24 hours later, so I hope they're not having problems fulfilling orders.

EDIT: So much for jumping early on this deal. PS3 is back in stock, $5 cheaper, and the 16% code works - comes to $84 shipped, plus tax. Too bad I already ordered it!

Weird, I was able to search for the Rock Band 2 Xbox 360 bundle normally (rather than going through the deal link) and it still showed up as $95, AND it even showed the CAG16 code working. It hasn't been charged, though, and I'm pretty sure they'll just cancel it before charging or shipping, but it was worth a shot.

EDIT: Well I'll be damned... just got a shipment confirmation today! So I managed to get in on the deal long after it was officially "out of stock." Total cost including handling (they didn't charge shipping but they did charge for handling) and sales tax was $93 and change.

I just picked up the SE version, and with my edge card, it took another 7.52 off, and the discount code worked. It was 59 and some change including the 2.99 shipping. Who do you complain to about the shipping to get another 10.00? This was a screaming deal. My kids are going to love it.

What a load of crap. They canceled my order because the computer would not accept my address. I emailed customer service, and explained that it would not take an rt number, after they alerted my to a problem, and because they said my delivery address did not match the address on my card. When I explained why, and gave them the address on the card, they said they would resubmit and continue my order. I checked back later, and they just canceled my order completely, and would not do anything about it. This is the first time I have ever had this kind of problem. Looks like I might not be buying anything more from them.

It does not take the discount code, but it will give you a discount for your edge card. With tax, and free shipping it makes it 26.99.
