I haven't spent more than $10-15 on a single game from Gamestop in many years.
Most times, the particular games I am buying, is cheapest at GS.
I am uncomfortable not knowing condition of used games that are being shipped from Amazon. So am at least comfortable knowing that an extra buck or 2 won't hurt when I know condition of my purchase will be guaranteed. I ALWAYS thoroughly inspect games I purchase from GS. EXCELLENT/VERY GOOD condition only, or GTFO.
However I do see just as many overpriced games on shelves, but I don't buy those, so it's whatever.

I also look to complete a lot of my incomplete games (Cases/sleeves/manuals/etc).
They usually provide those for free if you ask nicely enough. So I usually buy something crazy cheap out of courtesy.

I haven't sold anything back to GS in a good 10 years or so.
I prefer sticking to sites like GameTZ where I know I'll get top dollar, or more out of an item.
Several times, I have gotten offers on games that were significantly more than market value.
$30 worth for a $10 game? Hell yea! I didn't think twice when it came to accepting that offer.

Show me a place that doesn't have horrible trade in values on used games. This is the one argument I've never understood; GameStop is one of the few places that will actually buy your games from you. It's easy and hassle-free, the trade off being that you don't get much in return. If you want an extra $5 try selling them on eBay, but don't complain to me when fees and shipping costs eat up whatever extra money you get.

I still do have legitimate beefs with GameStop though. I don't like that they put ugly stickers on game cases, I don't like that "new" games aren't even sealed like they should be, and I hate that their online prices are different from in-store prices.

Agreed with both. Also aren't their prices for new games just the MSRP? Can't see how you can complain about that really.

Yes. Some of their stickers are horrendous to remove. Many countless hours wasted on removing those.
When buying new games, I request they go in back & pull a sealed copy. If they don't have any, I walk out. I rarely buy new games anymore so this is a non-issue.

Yeah the stickers they put on games. WTF are they thinking? There are lots of stickers out there that are much much easier to remove than the ones they use. They MUST know this is a common complaint no? So why not just use one of the easy to remove types of stickers instead?

You suck. I hate you.

But that doesn't mean I don't agree with you.

Gamestop sucks the big one, mainly for their shady practice of selling un-shrinkwrapped games as "new". It's complete BS. They will take a brand new and sealed game, open it, take the disc out, put the case on the shelf, and sell it as new.

Another shady tactic is how they will only have "one" copy of a game left, which of course is also not wrapped and the game disc is behind the counter. Once they sell that game, they will open up another new copy and do the same thing all over again. I once called 4 different game stops to see if I could buy a copy of Patapon 3 for PS3. Each one gave the EXACT same story.

Me: "hi, do you have any new copies of Patapon 3?"
GS: "oh yeah, we do."
Me: "is it shrink wrapped?"
GS: "no, it's opened"
Me: "Do you have any sealed copies?"
GS: "no, sorry, we only have that one copy"
Me: "Ok ok, nvm then. Thanks anyways"

Repeat same convo 3 more times at 3 other Gamestops.

Also, one last shady thing is that they let their employees take home those game discs that they pulled from brand new sealed copies and "test" them out. After all that, they still sell them at the "new" price.

Gamestop is bullshit.

The opened "new" games is the main reason I no longer shop there. I can get a sealed copy at another store.

Gamestop has always sucked. Before shipping prices over the internet were reasonable Fry's would be my to-go place for games, and not using eBay or Amazon or whatever else beyond the early 2000's is just silly.

GameStop is great if you're always behind the curve on what's 'new' and take advantage of b2g1 free sales. For example the 'new' game (to me) that I'm playing now is la noire.
