Great looking laptop at a great price.

I wish there was a way to upgrade the warranty.

Looks pretty good, here's the specs:

CPU: Intel Pentium M 1.5GHz
Display: 15.4" WXGA (1280 x 800)
OS: Windows XP Pro
Memory: 512MB DDR333 SDRAM (256MB x 2)
Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon 9700, 64MB DDR
HD: 60GB
Optical Drive: DVD+/-RW
Communication: 56K Modem, 10/100 LAN, 802.11b/g WLAN
Ports: 3x USB2.0, 1x IEEE1394, VGA, Parallel, Audio Ports, FIR, S-video TV out, 4-in-1 card reader
Average Battery Life: 5 hours
Weight: 6.6 lbs
Manufacturer Warranty: 1 year

Price seems really good for what you get....dvd burner and a capable video card...good battery life, and not a total doorstop when it comes to weight. And, no rebates! I've been looking around for a laptop to use at school when I'm away from my desktop pc, so I didn't want something that was too expensive and powerful, but I didn't want something with no graphical power...this is a happy medium that I'll have to consider.

Alright enough already!!
I can NOT afford anymore really good deals like this.
Bullsh*t aside this is a really nice price for a laptop with these features.
Must resist
Must pay rent.
Keep saying it!

I have the Aspire with a 9200 VC and I am very happy with this laptop. I use it for business and the weight is about the max you want to carry, but the added screen size make a spreadsheet that much better. The wide screen helps plenty when you need two windows open. I paid $1500 about six months ago. Never a glitch. My only complaint is the keyboard. I was able to type much faster with my IBM. I am prone to making this, "Ii" for I alot.

Should I get this or a sager with a 128 ATI card in it? How well will war3 play on this? That and a little CS is all I like for games and such. Maybe some UT 2004.

a 9700pro is PLENTY for wc3 and cs. u can even get by with a smooth game with a GF4 440.

Clevos (Sager's ODM) are excellent machines. Am quite pleased with mine. The machine mentioned here however will of course yield far more in the way of battery life, and will be slightly more portable (less weight). Nearly all Clevo DTRs make use of desktop-grade processors and thus will only provide at or under approximately two hours (on a single battery); the exceptions being the newer AMD64 based machine (the NP4750) and the two Pentium-M based machines (the NP2885, and the NP3760).

Clevos also offer more in the way of display resolution (SXGA+, UXGA, WSXGA+) as opposed to the machine above.

I wish I knew how much the price is going to go up after this sale is over...I still have to deposit a check into my account before I can purchase this. I'm definitely interested since it looks to have a lot of the features that I want in a great package.

pcNate,

I was pricing this exact machine only a few days ago. NewEgg's pricing was like ~$1450, I don't know if it'll go back up that high once the sale is over though.

I just want the Multimedia Notebook Initiative to go through sooner:

PCI Express interlinks for mini-card internal peripherals as well as video cards, DDR2, and internal Serial ATA 3.0. Add that to an advanced Dothan architecture, and whoooooo.

EDIT: Also, Acer including 1.5Ghz Dothans is kinda weird since not even Dell is selling the 715s yet - just the Banias 1.5 1MB cached 705s. You have to pay for the "1.6A" to get the 2MB Dothan atm.

I think it would probably play Doom 3 ok...the 1.5 ghz P-M is equilavent to a 2.4 ghz P4, or thereabouts. The 9700 probably wouldn't be too shabby either...I wonder if Doom 3 would have an option for the widescreen native resoltion of the monitor, I would think that it does though.

This is a supremely good deal. If I didn't need to pay tax, I'd get it, and give my sister my ZT3000 (1.5/512/40/ATI 9200-64/1680x1050 WS)

According to the Doom H/W requirements you can paly it with a P3 and a Geforce3 card so, this will be just fine.

awesome deal.

A 2Ghz Dothan performs on-par with a 3200+ AXP64. Anandtech did a comparison of the Dothan vs. current desktop chips - check their CPU section.
