ok got the cpu in the mobo, plugged in the 24 pin and the 8 pin. Flick the psu on and it clicks, like a breaker is tripping. Ive tried re plugging in the psu connectors and re seating the cpu. Any Ideas?

Edit the psu wont trip if I disconnect the 8 pin and the cpu fan will spin up, no display or post or debug code

I assume you tried powering it on with both the ATX and EPS 12V connected?

I assume that means the 4 pin times 2 vs the 8 pin one? My psu only came this a cord labeled cpu and it has two- 4 pin plugs. They only plug in one way aswell.

The ATX connector is the 24-pin one and the EPS 12V connector is 4+4 or 8 pin (doesn't matter how it's packaged). Anyway, I assume it doesn't power up after you head the relay tripping sound inside the PSU?

If that's the case, it is probably RMA time.

RMA'ed, New one arrived. Worked straight away. Very happy.

Im thinking of overclocking, any recommendations? I only have the stock cooler atm.
Runs @ 35c-60c Only loaded with dawn of war 2.

Also im running windows 8, Should I download the Ati drivers or just use the win8 default ones? (4890)

Dawn of War 2 doesn't exactly stress the CPU to its fullest. With the stock cooler you should see about 80C in Prime95, LinX or any other application that fully stresses the CPU.

I would recommend against overclocking with the stock cooler. If you're just looking for a no hassle OC that stays cool, I'd recommend a hyper 212 or equivalent 120mm tower cooler, then set the multiplier to 42 and leave pretty much everything else to defaults. If you want to optimize it you can try stress testing with a negative offset voltage, I'm running mine at -0.05V or somewhere around there.

You should definitely install the latest Catalyst drivers for best performance. The ones that come with Windows are chosen because they will remain the same for a long amount of time, not for performance and compatibility in games.

Latest latest(13.1) or latest recommended for 4890 (12.6)?
Ill try the 13.1 in the meanwhile.

Either one is fine. They don't update the part of the core drivers that's specific to the 4000 series anymore, but you will get the fringe benefits (newer CCC, etc.).
