I maintain x79 is silly. Because the only cool thing it has is quad channel memory, and We can't even utilize it because apps arn't threaded highly enough for it to kick in.
I am actually pissed off about this because I was going to buy x79, but then for some reason, intel did this whole memory bandwidth depends on app threaded thing......
I'd get it for the 6 core CPUs not for the quad channel memory (which is pretty cool anyway). I was fully waiting for consumer level 6 core processors before I upgraded from my Q9550, but when I found out that the roadmap for Intel CPUs had 6 core cpus going only to the high end (read: expensive) line I decided it wasn't worth waiting any longer.
