I'm not much of a hardcore windows whiz so i thought i would look for one here =)
I hope this is simple and does not belong in the highly technical area.
Anyway, when i play the game BF2, i get a lot of loading throughout the game, mostly at the begining which i guess is normal, but then sparatically throughout the game as well.

Anyhow, i noticed that when i am lagging, my harddrive light is going crazy. this leads me to believe that i need to tweak some windows settings that deal with archiving information to the HD.

I have already made sure that my computer>properties>performance is ser for programs/programs

my system is as follows

Amd 939 3000+ @ 2.4ish
evga 7800 gt CO
gigaram mach1000 512m x 2 @ 2-3-2-6 128-bit @ 275*333/400 MHz
asus sli deluxe mobo
maxtor 160gb sata150 16mb

pci frequencies are locked in bios to ensure i dont have an sata problem.
Furthermore i have absolutely no temperature issues.

Any advice anyone can offer would be great
Thank you,
Tyler

It sounds like BF2 is using all of your 1GB of RAM and still wanting more. So it goes to the HD and everything bogs down while it does it's thing.

Probably more RAM is your answer to stop the HD thrashing.

(we have more than one game here that will use >1GB if it is available. I know the original BF1942 was terrible about wanting more and more RAM as each new (on-line) map loaded. with 1GB it was only a matter of time until it went to the HD. HL2 and F.E.A.R are a couple more examples of games that benefited from 2GB of RAM. New games seem to be pretty careless with their RAM management.)

BF2 is bad with low amounts of RAM. I have 512 and it's playable, but it takes a VERY long tim efor it to smooth itself out even after the ocuple minutes of load time.

As people are saying, it's probably 2GB of RAM time if you really like playing BF2. As MustISO said, defragging will probably help a bit.

Could be the pagefile is too small? Doubt it, but still, most say should be about 1.5times your RAM, so around 1536MB
