Gaming laptop to desktop

Hi,

I had bought a gaming laptop a few months ago (5.5 months used) to be used for my transition to university. But now I'm changing mind to sell it and move to a gaming desktop instead under a 1000-1100 budget.

I will also need to sell laptop, its a Lenovo ideapad y510p which I had bought on May 2014 and has a 1yr warranty which means 1/2 yr still left. I AM HOPING TO GET THE MOST OUT OF MY LAPTOP. (Atleast $700).

It has the following spec:-

1) 2.4 ghz i7 processor 4700MQ
2) 8 gb ram
3) 1TB HDD
4) Dual GT755m SLI
5) 1920x1080 15.6" screen
6) 8gb ssd
Excellent Condition

OP, where are you located? I was thinking US but then you linked to the RAM on Amazon.ca.

If you were in Calgary I'd work out a trade deal!

I've been researching this to death lately and it's sad how "high end" laptop graphics are so much slower than even a moderate desktop! 2x 755M(obile) in SLI will be easily beaten by a single Radeon R9-290 for example.

Making a nice gamer desktop is not going to be a difficult task!

The deal on the monitor on nmicrovip.ca is really good. And no I'm not looking for an OS though.

My main concern right now is to get a decent return for my laptop - 1st priority

Right, which is why I subtracted the $180 from $1100 to get $920. Thank you for answering the question about the OS though.

Unfortunately, this isn't the forum to sell your old laptop. You can try listing over in the For Sale/Trade forum though. If not there, Ebay is your best bet.

Are you still interested in a build, or do you need to wait until you sell your laptop?
