It seems like I'm the only one in existence or something, but I was thoroughly unimpressed with the 2001FP. I'd ordered one last month, and my brother actually got one before mine was to ship, so I tested his out connected to my video card (and his too). I couldn't believe the amount of ghosting/blurriness I was seeing in games, especially after reading all the praise about the monitor on these forums...

Basically, I cancelled my order and now have a 22" NEC-Mitsubishi CRT on its way. (The one that can do 1600x1200 @ 109Hz, mmmmmm )

I'm most certainly in the minority here, but I thought I'd just put in my two cents....not everyone is in love with these so-called "gaming" LCD's....

I agree, if you actually read the anandtech review, you see that they do not recommend it as a gaming monitor. Personally, I think they are overpriced crap.

I just reread that, and they say they're very pleased with it. Can you post a link to where Anandtech recommends against this piece of overpriced crap? Or is it a case of sour grapes?

Well, I haven't use either of the monitors you have tried, however it's difficult to believe someone didn't like that diamondtron. That should have been an awsome monitor, but to each his own. I decided to go ahead and try the Viewsonic VX910, based on reading I've done. I am typing this message on it now, and I have to say that color reproduction and sharpness are spectacular. I am just about to try it out in World of Warcraft, and I will also put it through it's paces in battlefield vietnam to test it's FPS worthiness. I bought it locally to avoid hassle returning if I end up not liking it.

I will post back later and let you know what I think of it's video performance. BTW if you see it in the store, don't base your opinion on that, it looked like crap at bestbuy but once I got it home and hooked it up via DVI it looked wonderful. I look at everything now and think, did that look so great before?

Nah, I have no sour grapes, I just think that everyone hypes it up way too much. If you guys love it, thatcool. I didn't mean to shrink anyone's epeen here I'll look for the link and post it here. It's in one of thier roundups I believe.

On a side note, after using the viewsonic vx910 for a little bit I absolutley love this thing. Tried video playback with Hero in some fight sequences and it was lovley. No ghosting at all in World of Warcraft. If it passes the Battlefield vietnam test, I might poop myself with excitment.

My bad, it wasn't at Anandtech, it was at toms:

"While it has specs that you can only dream of, the 2001FP is not a gamer's monitor. The afterglow is too visible. To get an idea, it's worse than monitors based on TN + Films, and these are often considered low-end products. Most MVA monitors, although 25 ms, also have a lower afterglow. At best, you can entertain the idea of a few slower games from time to time. Forget about FPS championship training on this."

Text

Now, take that as you will, I always thought they were kind of goofballs over at toms, so who knows.

That makes sense. Now will the 2005FPW have the same problems...?

Well, my short term verdict is in. This monitor is awsome. I am very surprised that no one has mentioned it before. I just got done playing battlefield vietnam, and saw absolutley no ghosting whatsoever. This monitor is really wonderful imho, especially for 399 Synthdude, if you dont like your 2005fp I suggest checking out the vx910 I think I am a very picky gamer visually, and this panel has really impressed me. I got it because I was having a great deal of eyestrain from my CRT, and I was expecting to put up with some ghosting, but there is none on this panel in movies or in games.

Very impressed.!

20" Dell sounds good, either the 2001 or the 2005... you won't be wrong. I ran the 2005FP wide (1680x1050) off my 5200FX, 9550, and 9600 and worked great on all of them. Getting a 6600GT soon so adding more bang to the visuals. I watched movies on the 5200FX and the 2005FP.... wow... as I saw it power up for the first time... I was just peeing my pants... it's actually quite stunning and different. Games are wider.... most new games will accept the odd-ball resolution... movies are naturally wide-screen these days so movies look better on your screen... pictures from your digital camera fit better... I think it's just better personally for the things you'll be doing.

Honestly there is no reason to spend 600 on a 2005 or 2001 fp when the vx910 can be had locally and is at least as good for 379
