Mouse is a yes, keyboards are a placebo. They all work the same, and the clicky switch ones are worth paying if your going to do a lot of typing too.

true gaming keyboards have reprogrammable keys and macros...which can be huge for certain games. Most simpleton FPSers won't find any direct benefit but there can still be ways to take advantage of it (for one I program keybinds for teamspeak functions to macros and use them quite often)

whether or not the ultrapolling for the keyboard actually makes a difference requires too much work for me to test out, and the data probably wouldn't be reliable anyway

I agree, key binding is a very nice thing to have, I had an original G15 and the macros were just overwhelming.

oh noes lol
Im building a gaming rig and I only could afford a Logitech Wireless Laser LX710 kit. That was with a rebate offer lol
I know a better mouse is a must for FPS games and I play them the most.
The mouse is a LX7 with a 1100DPI which aint as bad as some of those 800dpi mouses I seen.

Any improvements in HID are going to be tangible and worthwhile imo. Mouse mat and mice for sure are worth it, the keyboard like G15 is also great only if you actually make use of it. As mentioned, programmable keyboards are invaluable particularly for MMOs where they're considered borderline h4x.

While this isn't a feature limited to Logitech or gaming mice, the ability to assign keystrokes in SetPoint allowed me to map Ctrl to the Mouse thumb button in FEAR 2, which does not allow mapping to mouse beyond 3 keys normally.

The ability to combine assignable keys on the mouse with macros on a G15 keyboard makes for amazing potential in MMOs, particularly ones that use SHIFT/ALT/CTRL etc. to access additional action bars. For example, you can map shift, ctrl, alt to mouse buttons, then remap keys too far away from your left hand like #7 to 0 to your G function keys.

You can even go further by creating compound macros with multiple actions with inserted delays beyond what's capable with in-game macros or commands.
