Gaming monitor suggestions? 1920x1200

I just built a new machine and have been thinking of upgrading my monitor. My current monitor is a 5 year old 22" Acer 1680:1050. Overall it's a fine monitor but relatively low end with some serious light bleed around the edges on dark scenes. I'd say my price range is probably $300ish but a bit flexible. Will be used mainly for gaming and web browsing, but also some office work and general since I sometimes work from home.

Looking around it seems like almost everything is 16:9 1080p. This resolution is great for TV and movies, but I don't care for it so much for general use, especially for web and office applications. Going to a 24" 1080p looks like all it will do is give me an extra couple inches of width but no real gain in height. I think I'm down to either a 27" 1080p or a 24" 1920x1200 monitor. I actually like the size and aspect ratio of 1920x1200, but they seem to be hard to come by. The only one I see a lot of is the Dell 2412. Most of the reviews for this one are decent and price isn't bad. Should I just go for it or do you guys have any other suggestions? My primary concern is the relatively slow response time for gaming (8ms).

PS I'm running an 7870 video card

For the last 3 years, I've used a Samsung 2443. It was a 1920x1200 monitor, 5ms response-time, TN panel. I really liked it, especially for my desktop. However, the 5 millisecond response-time did cause some ghosting/blurriness when playing games. When you keep the camera still, there is no problem. But when moving the camera, the picture does get blurry.

After 3 years, that got to me. I wanted a clear picture not only when I hold my camera still. But also when I look around. Time for a monitor with only 2ms response-time.

The biggest problem: there are zero monitors that are 1920x1200 and have only 2ms response-time. None.

So I settled on the Asus VE278Q. In another thread on this forum, some people recommended it as a gaming monitor. It's 27", 1920x1080, 2ms, DVI-input. The height is just as big as my 24" 1920x1200 was. But now I have extra screenspace on the sides. The picture is indeed a little less blurry. But still not as good as I had hoped. (In my memory, my old 21" CRT never had any blurriness. I want that back). The screen is brighter, maybe the colors and contrast are slightly better. (It kinda feels that way, but that's subjective). 1920x1080 has ~10% less pixels than 1920x1200. To my surprise that translated directly into a ~10% higher framerate in Guild Wars 2 and Skyrim.

So all in all, I am happy with my new Asus. I feel it makes my eyes slightly less tired after long gaming sessions. The picture quality is the same (or better) than the old Samsung. My framerates are slightly higher. And I have more screen on the sides. I think I made a good replacement.

Of course I'd love to have:
1) IPS panel
2) 2 ms (or 1ms even)
3) 16x10
4) 27"
5) 120 Hz
6) Not ridiculously expensive.

Unfortunately there are no monitors that fill all those requirements. Not even 5 out of 6. Even finding 4 out of 6 is gonna be pretty difficult.

Spend your $300 on a Korean 2560x1440 panel and don't look back. Nothing else can touch them in a price vs screen quality ratio. Only downside it getting a dud and dealing with the Korean sellers. I found that risk acceptable.

There is a new competitor to those. I thought it was on anandtech's front page for a while. Its a legit grade A ips panel to compete with those korean ones everyone is getting. I mean, I think its still korean, but its a legit korean, lol.
