I already bought an AZZA Solano 1000r case about a month ago and Im really frusterated to start the build. I guess the next thing to do is to look for a motherboard and cpu right? I definately want to overclock, but I dont want the fastest pc out there becasue Im on a limited budget. What motherboard and cpu would you guys receomend I get?(nothing to fance, but nothing too crapy)

Thanks!!!!!

IMO AMD budget wise would the route to take.

Can get a decent 'not crappy' system for a good price. It will have OCing potential. You will need to compliment with decent other accessories to OC. Good PSU, ok memory, good cpu cooling and gpu would need to be decent depending on the level of gaming you may or may not be doing.

Not knowing your budget, the AMD 940/955BE are good candidates, 965BE is their top and on forums you can pick up at a decent price.

AM3 vs AM2/+ will take you in two different paths with DDR2 vs DDR3 memory. All these are choices you need to pick. Soooo many forums filled with details on this area.

I am sure many others can chime in with their two cents too.

BTW..I have a nice Asus AM2+ mobo (M3A79-T Deluxe) FS in another thread. Would be a good mobo to build a decent system on

head down to frys and get one of these for a DDR2 build
http://cdn.travidia.com/rop-sub/29182462
or one of these for DDR3
http://cdn.travidia.com/rop-sub/29166095

Thats a board and quad core chip for $100. Pick up 4gb of ram for $100 then drop in a 5770 graphics card for $150. You'll still need a power supply (400W is plenty for this) and a hard drive. Newegg has a 1tb Hitachi drive for $70 (http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2067459)

Thats $420 + Power supply for a great setup. Frys probably has a few decent deals for the power supply, but grab the drive, 5770 and HDD from newegg and your golden.

I'd stick with ATI for your price range. A new gtx 260 is $50 more then a 5770 and slower.

The combo above isn't bad, but a 5750 is on the slow side for gaming. Today is the last day of Frys current ad, but they have the same chip and similar board for $170! The Frys CPU/mobo combo are almost always the best deal. If your near Orange county/tustin Microcenter has a pretty slick AMD combo sale going
