Gaming Mouse Recommendations

I have the SteelSeries Rival now, and I plan on going back to Logitech. It's a good mouse, very accurate, but the scroll wheel is total garbage.

I've been using a G700 for a couple years. I've been very happy with it. The battery life sucks, and I suppose it could use slightly better clicking on a couple buttons, but I like the layout and feel a lot.

Just got the G700 for Christmas. I like the feel. But I agree....the battery life is bad.

Had a G700, but returned it and bought a G602 as the battery life of the G700 is horrendous.

Why do people complain about the G700 battery life do you use it for more than 10 hours straight AND is it that hard to plug in at the end of the night? My cable is just to the next of my mousepad and it's an easy connect. Not sure why that's a big deal it's like plugging in your phone at the end of the day.

Steelseries Sensei (or Xai if you can still find them), best overall feeling mouse for me with all the buttons I need, but atm my main mouse is the Razer Taipan and I love the metal material but there's a few nagging issues with it (such as when you first turn the PC on, the function of the mouse is robbed for a while, and synapse is a disease).

I went through two Deathaddrs and it's not that great of a mouse, also had a Diamondback (original) that lasted me 6 some odd years and a Copperhead that lasted me a month and a Mamba that lasted me less than 6 months. From this point on after getting a Taipan, I will not buy another Razer product.

Finding a mouse with buttons on both sides is more difficult these days, I'm left-handed and so many competitive mice has buttons only on the left side now rather than buttons on both sides.

I sometimes forget, and let my phone go 2-3 days between charges. Regular wireless mice can go weeks between battery swaps.

Anybody tried the Naga Hex? I'm looking for a mouse with more side buttons, but not "MMO" level of side buttons. This mouse looks like it fits the bill pretty well.

I also have smaller hands, so it looks like a pretty diminutive, comfy shape for someone like me.

Some people have experienced poor battery life. What they deem poor battery life is subjective to each one. I'm sure some can be justified or not depending upon the expectation. I do remember some people complaining about the battery life being comparably shorter than that of their other wireless gear, headphones, keyboard ect. My issue was more with the mouse working correctly, freezes and performance.

I don't complain a lot about it, but when giving a review of the mouse, I do make note of it. I used to have the MS sidewinder x8, and as far as battery life and rechargers, the MS Sidewinder x8 was huge hugely better. It's not even close. The sidewinder lasted days of constant use before needing a charge. It also had a super thin wire for charging, that was almost like it was wireless even when you charged it. It was also magnetic, which was much easier to use and it did not require me to turn off the mouse before unplugging it. The G700, on the other hand, has a very thick cable that doesn't bend all that easy.

Of all the wireless mice I've used, it is very poor in terms of battery life and charging.

That doesn't mean I dislike the mouse, but I feel it is my duty to mention the poor battery life when I talk about it.

I had a razer deathadder left handed model for about a year but the left button started missing one out of every 100 or so clicks. Was sad to see it go!

I am using a Roccat KOVA+ now, much smaller mouse which took a little getting used to but the multicolour LEDs are cool and it hasn't missed a beat so far (owned it about 6 months).

I really like the G502 as someone who grips their mouse with primarily fingertips. Nice scroll wheel that can adjust between quantized and free scroll, enough buttons to be very functional, adjustable weight, on the fly DPI adjust if you want that for whatever reason, switch between 3 preset profiles which each have 4 DPI presets, and no need to install any software. The only downside is an incredibly bright "G" in the middle of the mouse.

I would be thrilled if I got 10 hours of battery life out of my G700s. That said I still love the mouse and picked up a second one to use at work. Replaced a Razer Naga at home and an old ass Microsoft Intellimouse at work.

For those not needing tons of buttons I bought the Asus Rog Gladius recently and its been superb. Similar to Razer death adder

...The only downside is an incredibly bright "G" in the middle of the mouse.

That can be dimmed or removed completely in the Logitech Gaming Software settings.

Still using a Logitech G9. Hard to beat it (fairly custom weighting, and two different bodies, of which I personally prefer the smaller one as it works with my fingertip grip better, which doesn't give me hot/sweaty mouse and hand). Still hard to beat wired in terms of performance as well as long as you are close enough to your computer.

I know a lot of people had problems with their cables, but so far, I have not experienced anything other than some fraying of the outside, for which I simply covered it in techflex. Have had it since it came out back in 2007-2008 (one of the longest lasting mice I have had aside from a Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer which I kept going back to until I got the G9).

For my Cooler Master Storm loving brudewskis the Xornet V2 was just announced at CES. No details released yet that I know of, but since the OG Xornet/Spawn are discontinued and selling for $60+ by third party sellers, it's nice to at least have confirmation of a new model on the horizon.

I owned the original Razer Boomslang ball mouse, their first optical mouse the Viper, and then finally a Diamondback before giving up on them entirely due to quality issues.

Cooler Master has won me over with their Storm line.

It's very much a prototype product in the sense that they took an interesting concept and it made it to production. I bought one and returned it. The idea is nice but I wasn't totally happy with the mouse buttons. They weren't ergonomic for a lack of a better description. Just no comfortable to use to me personally.

And regarding the G700s battery thing, it's kind of like I don't totally care how much battery life my phone gets as long as it lasts through a day comfortably you know? Sure some phone might have 4 days of battery life compared to 1.5 and that's a huge technical difference but it makes 0 practical difference to my actual usage. So if it's really that inconvenient or you just can't be bothered to plug it in every night, I guess it's a problem for you then.

I like my G502. Had it for a while now and no issues. Mouse before was the g700, and I agree it was nice but a pain in the ass charging that stupid thing all the time. Wired only from here on out.

Currently using a Deathadder 2013, had it for about 6-10 months now. If/when it dies I will probably get the Deathadder Chroma, or whatever the latest one is at that point. Very good solid mouse, fits my hand well and performs great.

I'm considering the Asus Gladius at the moment. I want something with a Deathadderesque form, but without Razer's useless build quality.

The main thing putting me off is the stupid ROG branding and the 'gamer' aesthetics. Say what you like about Razer and their daft product names and tacky image, but the Deathadder is one of the most visually understated gaming mice available once you disable it's lights.

Aside from that, I'm a little wary of playing the early adopter game with the Gladius. It's still very new, and there's sweet FA in the way of user feedback. I've seen various complaints, like erratic cursor behavior with fast vertical strokes, and firmware updates increasing latency - it looks like it could use some more time to mature to me.

One thing that can kill a mouse, depending on how you use it, is the software. Is the Asus software any good?
