I use a G13 along with my mouse. It is very important for me to have the ability to communicate with the G13 with my mouse, so the software matters. Others like to put some macros on their mouse buttons. If all you plan to do is leave everything at default, then all that matters is build quality, sensor and fit.

One thing that can kill a mouse, depending on how you use it, is the software. Is the Asus software any good?

The Asus software is simple to use, robust and so far for me glitch free.
In fact if you read reviews its often spoken about as one of the better software packages out there to control a mouse.

So in my humble opinion .....:thumbsup:

I'm curious what people might recommend. I'm left handed but tend to use the mouse in my right hand. I had a Logitech G502 Proteus Core until yesterday. I loved its movement, the buttons and the scroll wheel was phenomenal when unlocked.

Unfortunately the mouse irritated the skin on the palm of my hand on the ridge under the fingers and it was a little awkward in my hand. Before I got it I'd been using a combination of an Apple Trackpad and an old Microsoft Wireless Laser 8000. I love the feel of the metal in my hand and have never had the problem I had with the G502.

I spent about an hour yesterday in a computer shop trying out lots of different mice. By the end of it I was leaning toward the Razer Taipan (White for the shell, felt better on my hand) and the Razer Naga (shape felt good in my hand and worked reasonably when I tried it in my left hand). I couldn't find any that have an unlock able scroll wheel like the G502. I didn't pickup the Taipan because of that and it feel a bit off to pay as much for the Taipan as the G502.

I tend to do a mix of gaming from RPG's (Divinity Original Sin, Wasteland 2), FPS (Just Cause 2, Far Cry 4) and adventure games.

I've got two MX 518's that I've had for near a decade now. They're ultra reliable and I don't see myself switching anytime soon.

Had the G700 for years now and still love it. It stays plugged in most of the time and the cord on mine is just as flexible as any wired mouse cord.
Absolutely love it. After 4 years I can still go about 7 hours of World of Tanks before it wants plugged in.

Before that was the Microsoft Sidewinder and I really liked it as well. It was my favorite wired mouse, just wish it had 4 side buttons.

I upgraded to a Logitech G502 from a MX 518. I miss the way the 518 fit in my hand but the G502 has more buttons which is nice.

Hated the G502. Was too narrow for gripping. Got the 602 which I absolutely love.

I posted this in another thread here a bit ago. I've had a new mouse that was leaked on the OCN forums. Called the FinalMouse. Isn't launched yet but I got a sample from a company employee who was giving away limited samples on OCN. Will be posting review of my use of it soon. I think it will intrigue you guys with the way it's performing so far.

As the G502 conversation has pointed out, mouse shape is a personal choice. You will probably find that palm grippers are going to be the hardest to shop for, as the mouse really needs to fit you like a glove. Finger tip holders are likely going to be the easiest to find a mouse that is comfortable, and the claw grippers are probably in between, and likely best off switching grips, as it is the most prone to carpal tunnel.

The G500 for me, I am spoiled by all the programmable buttons on this thing.

In BF4 the only thing my KB does is WASD and shift key for run, mouse does all the rest, healthpack, defib, ammobox quick thumb and done.

Two Words RAZER NAGA XD
Those buttons are HILARIOUS

So with these mice are they like the logitech where the mouse has programmable memory in them? The software doesn't have to be running for all of those buttons to work?

I use a G700s and it's excellent. 13 buttons and generally has a high quality feel. The battery life is weak but I just use it wired all the time. The cable it comes with is too rigid but you can replace it with any micro USB cable. Coming from an MX518, I did initially find my hand getting sore after using it (maybe because it's bigger), but that went away after a few weeks. I got it for only $25 with some deals at one point.

Use G700 at desktop and G602 for big screen.

G700 is superior in performance. Can't distinguish between it and a wired mouse for tracking/response. Can feel a very slight delay with the G602 in fast paced games.

G700 also doesn't seem to care too much about where the usb receiver is or suffer interference. With the G602, it needs line of sight or it cuts out, and also gets interference from wifi.

The G602 battery life is ridiculous though. I only use 1 AA battery in it, and it lasts for weeks. G700 maybe lasts a couple days at best, one long gaming session can kill it. No big deal though, just swap it out and recharge the others.

I like Logitech mice, Razer products seem cheap and break down a little too easily.

For an MMO mouse, the Redragon seemed like another cheap Chinese mouse, but it actually has a better feel than both the Logitech and Razer counterparts while being cheaper. I love the rough sandpaper like texture over the slippery smooth textures on other mice which get greasy/nasty feeling easily; my Logitech G9's claw-grip had a similar texture.

This is probably the exact opposite thread but I am looking for a non-gaming mouse. The only requirements are that it must be wired, dual-handed/symmetric, less than $15, and only have the main two buttons plus a scroll wheel.

Any recommendations?
