You can't play uncharted, halo, forza, gears of war, God of war, Mario, Zelda etc etc

Um, emulation? I don't disagree with your greater point, and I get the last gen or two of consoles can't be emulated, but I would much rather play a Wii game on my PC than on a real Wii.

I don't see how you get distracted. Most games are full screen. Its not like you can easily multitask a game. I'm guessing the OP doesn't even launch the game but instantly gets distracted when sitting down in front of the PC? Can't help you there.

Oh ye of little imagination. Multitasking is very easy, especially on a PC, unless the game has poor coding and you can't alt tab out of it w/o it crashing.

I used to always keep 2 or 3 games running at the same time and alt/tab between them. It was the fastest way to get back into the games and avoid the intro's. Works great so long as you have plenty of ram.

I find the repulsive graphics on a Console distracting and unplayable. Once you go 1440p (Gsync) @60fps+ on multiple monitors... there is no going back to that garbage. 30 fps or less ... uughh...

I cant play my favorite RTS's like Empire at War... Pillars of Eternity. Should I go on?

Just beat Last of Us Remastered on PS4 yesterday evening. I absolutely loved it. You mad? :sneaky:

Also been playing the Destiny Trial on PS4 and it's quite a bit of fun. It would be much better with a mouse and keyboard, and 60 FPS, but still IT'S FUN.

I'm a PCer, but I do like our new PS4 (me and my fiancee). It's our go-to Netflix box now instead of the 360. I thought about just upgrading her PC to be better for current generation games so she wouldn't have to hog my computer, but we figured there were going to be console exclusives she and I wanted to play (like Destiny, Uncharted 4 and UC Collection). She can buy games like Assassins Creed Unity without the Uplay and Gameworks mess currently going on in the PC world and I can have my computer available to me whenever I want

Bolstering the RAM and replacing her Radeon 7750 with a GTX 750Ti is enticing, but I figure in a couple years I'll either hand her down my current machine, build a whole 'nother, or there will be a new graphics card king in the "no external power connector required" category.

For simple minds... consoles are just fine. I'm not debating that either. I just can't handle the crappy graphics on them.

My gosh, a longtime lurker who's also a blatant troll and raging moron?

I'm impressed!

The only problem I have is that PC gaming is usually in a office setting in a secluded area of the home unlike a console system which is in a family room or living room.

I believe that concentration is a skill one must learn, and like many skills it must be practiced or one loses it. I think that main problem most people have these days is a simply lack of dedication to this skill. This is not fully your fault, society over the last few decades has promoted the failed idea that multitasking, not concentration, is the important thing to master. Most of you have been raised in an environment that was intended to maximise that skill set at the cost of focus.

To put it simply, most of you can't focus on a game for long because you do not have good focusing skills in the first place.

Most of who?

OP is the only one that seems to have this issue. And they have plenty of their own issues.

Those that have that issue of course. I assumed that those that do not have that issue would know that they did not fit into the audience I was speaking to.

OP, I can get the same way. Unless I'm really into the game, I find myself getting wrapped up in other things. With an array of monitors, it's easy to have a browser, Outlook and a ton of other things going on at the same time. Everything is in periphery so it's much easier to get distracted. Now the negative is that my daughter and wife don't leave me alone as much if I'm on the TV playing a console. Much easier to hide in the office, pretending like I'm working

That's not how anyone would read that. You're in a thread on a message board. You're speaking to everyone in the thread when you say "most of you."

I apologize then, it was not my intent to paint with that wide of a brush. I just failed my communications roll.

The irony here is that someone sure is simple minded, but it's not the people appreciating consoles for their exclusives.

I was wondering if anyone feel similar to me when it come to PC gaming?

Basically I can't game on PC for a good while. I get too distracted with the internet, looking at sport forums, gaming forums, adult contents, gamefaq, music, Youtube, monitoring program, etc...

On the other hand, when I game on console there is literally no distraction and I can play for hours on end.

Does anyone feel like this?

Play any game in fullscreen and bring some cheap usb joystick and paste a xbox sticker on your pc monitor and imagine you are playing on xbox.

I don't understand this ridiculous attitude some people have. Stop being stuck up, it's about the games and there are loads of games that are exclusive to consoles that are fantastic. You're either a gamer or you aren't. Who cares what platform someone is using?
I sympathize with your argument, but bunching up "gamers" all in one group is wrong.

There is a real, tangible distinction between PC games and console games, a distinction that goes beyond how easy it is to play on consoles or on PC, where you seat or the size of the screen or the control scheme. It's about the market, and game developers, successful game developers anyway, know this distinction very well.

You can't release a game like Europa Universalis on console and expect it to do as well as it does on PC. On the other hand, you can release a game like Singstar on PC and expect it do as well as it does on consoles.

It's fine if you're rich and can buy multiple platforms and enjoy the games you like on all of them. I don't deny there are some console games I would like to play, but I can't spend that kind of money, it's just ridiculous. The PC gaming market is the richest and most varied gaming market around, and that's not even considering that's where most of the games *I* wanna play are.

It's a matter of preference, and that ties into a very real matter of platform.

In my opinion anyway.

That's not the point.

Either you play games or you don't play games. What kind of games, whether it's on a PC at your desk or a ps4 on your bedroom TV doesn't matter. Now someone can be a casual gamer where they only play games occasionally but I think the term hardcore gamer or labeling someone a true gamer is BS.

Do you have a ps4 and play it? Your a gamer. Do you occasionally play games on your office PC? You might be more casual than some people but you are a gamer. That's the only distinction that matters to me. I don't care about the platform there are a lot of games to play on everything.

What I'm saying is that not what I think of it.

Games can be stuff like World of Warcraft, Halo, Tetris, or Legend of Grimrock. Totally different games, often for totally different people.

That's fine but everyone is a gamer. Maybe you do it every day maybe every 3 days maybe once a week. You are still part of the same club to me.

For me it depends on the kind of game I play.

If it was a single player game, especially strategy, then I would get distracted by 50 other things.

But if I were to play a competitive multi player game like LoL then it is the only thing on my mind.

Playing console simply sucks for me. I play at my friend's and only do it to play Bloodborne but it takes ages to load and area transitions are numerous. I wonder how much improvement an SSD would do to the experience.
