Unlikely. Most cards that "can handle 1600x1200 max details/AA" are running pretty much at their limit providing "acceptable frame rates", and are still GPU-limited rather than CPU-limited.

Lopri seems to think we've gone way off topic in a pointless ramble. I don't see it that way, though. This is, after all, a discussion forum, and that's all we're doing-- discussing. Neither of us have been rude or inconsiderate to one another or anyone else on the forum. We just happen to have differing opinions on a small point. As for if it's been a useful discussion for the OP or not (or anyone else in the thread), I can't say. I'm sure one thing we *can* agree on is that we both think computer hardware is a fun hobby and that it is up to each individual to purchase the components that they feel most comfortable with.

For Koudelka, in order to attempt to keep this on-topic, it sounds as if your interest in a faster chip is the result of what some other people are saying about their experience with a beta game. I stand by my opinion that, it would be best to wait until the final version is released, and some independent websites do some benchmarks, before you make a money-spending decision.

In my CCC I set Vsync to be always off.
Oblivion does play sluggish but then again....its Oblivion...lol.
I run Farcry maxed at this resolution and still get 70 fps.

If you're primarily interested in gaming, then a faster gpu will provide a much bigger improvement than a faster cpu. If someone is running games at medium settings, no AA or AF, then that's because their gpu cant handle maxed out settings, not because the cpu is at fault. Increasing the resolution, and features like AA/AF have absolutely no effect on the cpu - it's entirely gpu dependent.
