1. Running Multiple Copies of World of Warcraft (online gaming)
2. Budget ~$700 MAX (can fudge a bit)
3. USA
4. No Brand Preference, just pure performance required.
5. Will be running KVM, so don't need mouse/keyboard/monitor/speakers.
6. I've read a bit.
7. Overclock to get as much juice out of it to run what I want it to run.
The plan is to run multiple copies of World of Warcraft (I'm talking 6-8 open WoW windows). All the windows will be restricted to 20 fps so that the CPU usage for each is kept to a minimum.
So far, I have:
CPU: C2Duo E4500 (OC'd) $125 Newegg
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L $99 Newegg
RAM: Crucial Ballistix 2GB
2x1GB) DDR2-800 PC2-6400 $50 (After Rebate) Newegg
PNY 8800GT $260 Newegg
Case: Antec Nine Hundred $70 (After Rebate) Newegg
PSU: OCZ Stealth 600W $78 (After Rebate) Newegg
Total So far: $682
Pretty much followed the Nov. 2007 Buyer's Guide for a Midrange Gaming Comp. Need help on HD (speed more important than capacity). Open to all suggestions on the above to try to cut costs, or increase performance for marginal price increase. As for OS, I have XP Pro. Energy consumption to a minimum, and noise level to a minimum as well. I do want to up the RAM to ~3-4gig total. I have no idea about RAID setup, but can probably find tutorials and figure it out if it would help my setup.
Any help would be deeply appreciated
