I think all illegals should be deported. We should spend money on having government going house to house asking for proof of citizenship and if they don't have it they should be rounded up and deported. Of course there will be those that try to run from these inspections so we should also have teams of government officials who police the streets asking anyone that looks illegal to show their proof of citizenship.

That's the only way to get rid of illegals.

I certainly wouldn't want them given amnesty and forcing them to pay taxes like everyone else! And I wouldn't want to bring them out from the shadows and have them integrate into American life, they need to be kept separate and isolated from true Americans.
If it wasn't for illegals businesses wouldn't have any desire to hire these people in the first place.

How did I do Sophitia?

First off Sophitia wouldn't have you. Second your going to force the illegals to start working on the books and paying taxes? Good luck with that.

If I understand the new proposal, this is addressed by the fact that employers have to use the eVerify system to ensure any current employees and applicants are either legal citizens, or have clearance to work here.

Later today I will try and break that info out into a post since a lot of people (including myself possibly) are confused about this.

Also will try to address the amnesty aspect, in that it isn't really one from what I gather. Rather, it is a 13 year path to possible citizenship in the future.

Or are you saying anything less than deportation IS amnesty?

rewarding people for breaking the law? do not want. i don't care if it's citizenship in 10 years or 10,000 years. people breaking immigration law should not be provided a special means of attaining citizenship just because so many of them came here. they should have to go through the LAWFUL SYSTEM, just like everyone else.

I agree 100%. But what do you suggest be done with the current 11 million or so that are here already? It seems like this proposal provides a long path to citizenship for those illegals, aka 'the tough pill'. At the same time, it provides funds to secure the southern border and financial incentives to ensure 90+% are stopped.

Would you do that trade? If not, how do you deal with the 11 million already here in a realistic manner?

Shady employers will do what they do now - just pay them with dollar bills per hour, "employing" a illegal alien is as simple as that. Theres no need to fill out any paperwork, its a come and go as you wish system.

Everify works for retail jobs, or Hotels. Construction work ? No. Farm work ? No. Illegals will still hang out in front of Home Depot to work for cash. Everify fixes very little, though it does look good for Politicians to bring it up since it "looks" like they are attempting to do something..

I will bite.

How about we adopt similar immigration policy as Mexico is doing with their ILLEGALS? = http://dailycaller.com/2010/05/21/lets-adopt-mexicos-fair-and-respectful-immigration-policy/

It will not be easy and will be a while but it is better than granting amnesty.

If it is too harsh, we can try to copy other developed countries such as Canada, Australia, et al. I haven't seen anything about sneak in a country/overstay visa in any other country ==> amnesty reward except the US.

We are repeating the same amnesty crap in 1986 and we wonder why we have so much trouble with ILLEGALS.

Doing the same thing and expecting different result = crazy/insane.

Immigration reform means nothing more than amnesty for law breakers. It's a sign that we have given up keeping people out and do not wish to go through the trouble of deporting those already here. Popular or not it means that if enough people commit a crime, we will just turn around and make it legal.

And to those who went through all the trouble of coming to the US legally, sorry bout dat.

THIS xover9000

The problem that is absolutely LAUGHABLE is that it is an insinuation to promote illegal border hoping. Whereas someone that wants to legally immigrate is getting the shaft. How is this in anyway fair to people who follow the follow the laws? Oh right - just like everything in life, people who do everything legal... get the shaft.

I guess it's just a message for illegal immigrants the moment they get in: "Hey essay' I hear doing thing's illegal is the best way! Let's mow lawns and not pay taxes, apply for welfare/social security/food stamps all the while working and not reporting it and we will be on our merry merry way! I mean hell, it's how we got here in the first place! You know Carlos? He is still back at home applying legally, LOL!"

If you want to fix the situation, you need to show the shame in coming illegal. If anything, give them some type of immigration to allow them to have jobs, pay extra taxes to recoup what they have cost us - and NEVER get full citizenship benefits. PERIOD. Stamp them with a tracking barcode if monetarily possible as well. Ask if they want citizenship rights, tell them to apply the legal way.

Offer non-perma citizenship to legally attain a job and pay higher tax brackets than anyone else

0 citizenship benefits, including medical care

Accept these terms or be shot on the spot. Or be complete pussies about it. I wonder which way we will go :awe:
