Okay...I know this isn't screaming hot, but the last time I needed to buy boxer briefs, every damned store in the universe had them for $15.

I giggle to myself when I hear this good natured but naive battle cry.

My best friend owns several apple and pear orchards in upstate NY. Next time you enjoy your next apple, banana, pear, or orange think about the exploitation there. We allow migrant workers to work in sqaulor to feed us. You want to stop exploitation? Pay that extra .50 per pound for fruit.

One store he sells to upstate experimented with it by putting one "moral" display where he hired his nephews to pick and paid them legal minimum wages. The result? Apples were $2/lb. The real life result? The good people of Syracuse NY opted to pay $1.49/lb for the fruit advertised as "migrant picked." A huge display explained the difference and with few exceptions (100-1 selling ratio), the fruit did not sell at $2. It was left there on the shelf for 3 weeks and rotted before anyone bought it. Nice image. Eventually people started to bitch about remineded about hypocrisy at every turn and the store owner removed the "display."

Good people, given the choice, prefer low cost to moral superiority. Go into wal mart and try to find a single thing that is NOT made in CHINA.
