Garden hose leaking at spigot connector

This is a 6ft hose that connects the spigot to the timer for my drip irrigation system. At the spigot side it is leaking badly at the gap between the hose and the threaded connector. I think it's leaking very slightly from the threads too. It's to the point now that I can't leave the water on and let the timer run its schedule cause it floods the area around the spigot. It is on as tight as it can be but it still leaks. Is it just a bad O-ring in the connector or the hose is bad and the whole thing needs to be replaced?

Maybe replace the 6ft hose?

No, not the faucet itself but on the hose. Not sure of the correct terminology but on the end that connects to the faucet, you have the threaded connector that spins freely from the hose. To allow this there's that gap. It's leaking from that gap and slightly from the threads once it's tighten on the spigot.

You should just replace the 6 foot hose. It will probably spring a leak next.

I have found the included o-rings/washers are always garbage.
Buy a pack of 10 from the hardware store and replace them each spring whether you think they need replacing or not.
Also, consider some of that white teflon tape for the threads.
And get a little pipe wrench or adjustable crescent wrench AND some large vise grips. Torque that sucker down. When the washer/ring is squeezed tight it does a good job of preventing leaks.

You should just replace the 6 foot hose. It will probably spring a leak next.

If it can give me a few more months of use then that's fine with me. A new 6ft hose is $8 but it is of even cheaper plastic/rubber than the current one.

I'd just wrap some teflon tape inside that gap a few times and see if it works *shrugs*

Replace the washer, problem solved. When you do buy a new hose, buy a good one, quality is the best value.
