Hey Folks ,

I was wondering if I can connect two sets of garden lights on the same terminals of the transformer, and maintain the level of brightness delivered by each bulb? I tried connecting them together and the lights just got dimmer and dimmer near the end of the lights.

Thanks a lot

Depends on the power output of the transformer and power draw of lights. If they are getting dimmer then chances are the transformer is close to it's limit.

You may have two issues. The first issue is that the transformer has some internal impedance that results in a voltage drop that is proportional to the current being drawn. That voltage drop is taken into account when designing for the rated current. If you effectively double the current by adding twice the lights then the voltage drop will be double and all the lights might therefore appear dimmer. The second issue could be overheating the transformer as doubling the current being drawn will quadruple the resistive losses inside the transformer.

Thanks a lot , The reason i am asking is because the transformers are just as or more expensive then the lights themselves
