If you purchased new w/ receipt, you will get free map upgrade to 2008.
So it doesn't matter if it shipped w/ older version 8.

Yes, it use Same NT navigator 2008 of all Garmin line.
I am currently using Nuvi 260 w/ map version 2008 and it show almost all retail stores.

Including home depot, walmart, cc, bestbuy, officedepot, staples, officemax, bed bath and beyond. ( don't laugh, my wife go to bed bath and beyond all the time! )

No, I was asking about the maps which come with the nuvi 650

I checked on Garmin site and this looks like Nuvi 350 with a larger screen.
It also has a different type of screen.

Has anyone had both and can compare?

Garmin come w/ map pre-installed already.
You can extract the old map, but w/out matching serial number from the ROM, it will not be unlocked.

That is why when you install update map on your garmin, you will have to log on to their server. Garmin start their business by providing military navigation, I am sure their engineer should be bit smarter on map protection. ( I haven't know anyone able to crack Garmin's map just yet )

Ah ok. I didn't know it was all pre-loaded. Oh well maybe I can sell my ancient c320 maps for $25 or so.

Nuvi 350 = 3.5" screen
Nuvi 650 = 4.3" screen.

Nuvi 650 is bigger version of Nuvi 350 with MUCH better screen. (non-reflective)
Newer Nuvi 2xx series also using this better screen like Nuvi 6xx series.

I don't have Nuvi 350 vs Nuvi 650, but I have review on Nuvi 350 (light silver housing one)vs Nuvi 2xx. (darker housing one)
It was a fair comparison, that I set both at 50% brightness.

I think this is hot for sure.

But...

I think I prefer the Nuvi 360 over this. The nüvi 360 has Bluetooth, and the 650 does not. I think I prefer the smaller size of the 360 as far as portability goes.

But the 650 is $50 cheaper!

Now I don't know what to do.

To be fair, 4.3" does NOT provide more useful info compare to 3.5".
It is useful only if you doing map browsing (slide your map around)
Also, 4.3" GPS does looks "MORE expensive", hence attract thief when you didn't put it away. (that's why I am on Nuvi 260! But I just ordered 650 from costco myself)

If you insist on BT, then keep the Nuvi 360. But again, I thought most of BT headset can be had for less than $20?

If the unit doesn't come w/ newest NT Navigator 2008, you can registered your device w/ garmin and your serial will enable you to get one the update.

But since Nuvi 650 debuted April of 2007, I would think it come w/ NT 2008 version already.
NT Navigator 2008 release on June of 2007!
