Garmin nuvi 855 $299 @ costco

costco has the very high end garmin nuvi 855 with voice recognition for $299+tax after $200 IR. This product is very well reviewed and according to several testers it is (the only) one where the voice recognition works. Main difference from Garmin's highest end 885 model is the absence of bluetooth, which was the main weak point of that and most other GPSes that I have used.

Yep, I have Garmin GPS with bluetooth too and it's useless. Give me any cheap bt earpiece for $25 and it'll be much better. Same thing with MP3 player, useless features that run up the price on a unit. Who wants to listen to mp3s through that little speaker while driving.

I have the Nuvi 850, and it's a great little GPS. The Nuvi 855 is pretty much the same thing, they just added a few things like junction view.


The cheapest on eBay for the Nuvi 855 is around $345, so $300 from costco is pretty damn good deal.

Also, do not forget if you buy a new GPS, you can get the update to the new 2010.10 maps for free as long as you bought your GPS within the last 60 days. If not, there is always bittorent sites like mininova that have the maps.
