I would. Mistake or not, they set the price and leave the pumps on while unattended.

Chances are I wouldn't even notice....

I buy gas on Friday at the end of the work week... I get out, swipe card, press grade, and pump till it clicks. Hit no for carbon copy... get in car.. drive away.

I'd take a picture of the pump before hand to show that the pump was advertising that price. Then I start filling up IBC totes.

I would head home and load up on all the gas cans we have and fill them up and checking the prices on the web at walmart for how much more gas cans were lol

To me this isn't a moral issue. They screwed up, its not like you're stealing from them (if a store messes up a price and doesn't catch it before you buy it then its not your fault, you didn't steal it). Of course we all know how that often turns out (at least for online stores), where the store has a disclaimer and doesn't honor the price. I'm curious about what will happen, if the station will honor it, or if they'll charge people the intended price. You know that none of them probably paid with cash since that'd tip them off about the price. However, I wouldn't because it would be a huge pain (long line, people acting stupid crazy trying to get it).

It was all done by CC because the station was closed down. The pumps were only operational when "pre-paid" by CC

I don't get how gas stations can get away with always putting 9/10th of a penny in small letters.

The math works out to about 14 gallons a person, and you have to think that not everyone was on E, so I'm assuming some people brought cans, even though 14 is a low average.

mmmmm i love how the article even had pole!

and yep, fillerup dammit. cheap gas is cheap gas, and a price mistake is indeed the mistake of the store. now, whats great is all the stores around here are far from being locally owned, all being shell, bp, speedway, etc etc etc... so I'd definitely have no qualms.

So instead of a $15 fill-up, I'd get a $1.65 fill-up? Guess I can buy dinner or something...

14 is not a low average. My camry is a 16 gallon tank. If your talking about big trucks and what not then thats a different story. So i guess a lot of cars filled up. But i don't see how people would of known unless they called their friends or what not since the posted price should of stayed the same.

I'd fill my family's cars up, then fill the gas tanks and everything that uses gasoline at the house up. Then I'd tell my friends.

I would not do it... only because I would have filled up at full price earlier that day. Damn my luck is always against me in timing my fill-ups.

This is a small town in Wisconsin, I'm thinking a lot of them were trucks with larger gas tanks. Also many people have empty cans in their trucks/trunks, and a lot of people called their friends, so someone would've known about the price before going.

What I'm wondering about is whether this was a little podunk Ma and Pa station where most or all of the town knew the owners, or if it was some updated BP, Shell, Mobil, or something of the like. If it was a smaller station, everyone was likely trying to screw the private small business owners that...in a town that size...most people are likely to know the owners personally. I'd feel bad if it was a small Ma & Pa shop, and I knew the owners. Obviously whatever is in the holding tanks has already been paid for, so you'd only be screwing the owners, not the companies that they're buying their gas from...

I have a 150 gallon transfer tank in my garage. It can be mounted and secured in a little under 5 minutes if it's empty. You can bet your ass I would have been filling it up and then promptly leaving it in my garage to fill my tank for the next six months.
