You have the end of the summer travel season, as well as the country's ethanol supplies finally being able to meet a lot of the demand (at the begining of 2006, the Energy Bill required gas stations to switch to 10% ethanol -- too bad we didn't actually have the supplies or the transportation ability to do that). The prices still reflect it though. You look at the midwest and you see a large difference in price than the coasts. There are other factors, but that's a big part on why we got especially screwed throughout 2006.

Oil was down again today, closing at $63.76.

Wholesale unleaded gas futures are also down big time in the last 6 weeks, from a high of roughly $2.20 in early August to $1.55 today.

So there you go.

In any case, it was $2.419 at Sams Club near me yesterday. I didn't go by the station this evening, but I suspect it may have dropped because the more expensive stations have gone anther couple of pennies since yesterday. Most are now around $2.47-2.49 with Sams being the cheapest at the moment.

The Sams in question was $2.33 today. On a side note, they now ONLY take Discover card at that location. Thank god I happen to have one.
