I don't think gas prices are problematic here in Columbus. Ohio has its own gasoline industry. There are many refineries in Toledo and Lima. That keeps prices down here, and protects the state from oil shocks due to refinery capacity elsewhere.

im not even sure that i was shocked to see people gassing up their boats to go cruising for the weekend, thanks, assholes.
But WTF is the reason? This is NOT due to supply and demand and THAT MUCH of a spike is NOT due to the hurricane, either. So it simply price gouging? And how is that legal? And why the FVCK does the government not give a sh!t.Originally posted by: upsciLLion
The attendant at the Safeway gas station I went to today said to expect gas to go up to $4.25 per gallon. Fvck that.

The U.S. has always enjoyed chepaer prices than Europe. With many refineries close to home being shut down, we have to get our oil from other places. And also, it's because these refineries will be shut down for months. (according to washington post)
