Yeah, that was stupid since the king wasn't in power for the last 10 years due to health problems. Other reasons though are refinery output problems and the fact that all countries except Saudi Arabia are running flat out but came up with 10% less than their estimates due to labor disputes and political problems. I wish hybrids would come down in price- I hate depending on other countries :|

Hybrids aren't what we should be focusing on.

Agree, but they, in volume, do help a little (very little, but nonetheless, a little).

Really...we shouldn't be focusing on hybrids then?
Interesting...sort of confused, though. He just has batteries that he plugs into the wall? What's so innovative about that.

He's using off the shelf, user friendly technology to get 250mpg.

So it's the same concept of having a gas and electric motor, but just charging the electric motor from an outlet instead of charging it from the car's gas motor?

That's a very obvious idea, but I always figured it wouldn't work because if EVERYONE was doing that, electricity consumption would shoot through the roof, and the problem wouldn't be any better, just in a different market.

Hey, it's cheaper than milk, so why are you whining???

Do you drink 35+ gallons of milk a month?

He's using 18 fvcking brick-sized batteries. More weight --> less effecient.

I wouldn't call 250+ mpg "inefficient" at all.

$2.75 for premium here - and I could've sworn I saw milk for $2.69/gal in NH (where I'm moving in 2 weeks).

Maybe you should re-read the article then. It says he "only" gets 80 mpg and that is only for the first 20 miles he drives (ie, before the batteries run out). After that, the car is no different than any other hybrid. Given that he is not accounting for the electricity costs of his initial 80mpg (for 20 miles), I would agree that this isn't any sort of astonishing breakthrough (though it is, or could be, a start).

If you had READ the article you would have seen that he is only getting 80 mpg....not bad but definitely not 250 mpg.

...and he's getting 80 mpg. Sounds efficient to me.

People, this is an experimental car. It's like saying the Wright Bros. plane was a POS because it could only fly a few dozen feet.

nobody... repeat nobody gives a crap for king fahd's death....
it's all about demand and supply

those traders make half a million a year... and usually people that make half a million are not stupid
Traders don't make sh!t. The people who order the trades that the traders execute make the money. Traders make a decent middle-class salary and work like dogs trying to look like they've

ZV <-Analyst, works with traders every day.

depends what you mean by "trader"... prop traders make sh*t load of money (and can easily make over 500k in a good year).

A simple buy side trader won't do nearly as well, but will still make a good few hundred thousand a year (and have a much more steady income).

Either way, you'd be hard pressed to find any sort of trader who makes only a "decent middle class salary" working for a big wall st. firm.

Cool, then people can't use that excuse anymore then either.

Well are we expecting a peak price anytime in the future when it can start to come down some?

Sorry, I fail to see what's so impressive about it. The car gets what? 50mpg anyway?

I paid $1.18/L for premium today to fill up.

WAY higher than the previous I'd ever paid... so expensive.
