FHD2401 Monitor at Bestbuy

Here's the old monitor: FHD2400

Saw this new monitor on the bestbuy website and was wondering if anyone's used it or has any thoughts on it.

I was about to get the FHD2400 which is a really good 24" monitor except for some minor issues like bleeding/viewing angle, so maybe this thing has fixed some of those issues.

I know it has less inputs, 2000:1 contrast ratio instead of 1000:1, a different stand (looks cheaper but not sure).

I'll check it out at bestbuy!

Think I have given up on computer monitors. I am going to be hooking computers directly into my TV.

Both are TN panels and shouldn't be too different from each other. I know the 2400 has USB and component inputs that the 2401 lacks. I'm not sure but I think the older version has a scaler chip and the newer one doesn't. Which would mean a lot if you like 1:1 pixel mapping. As for the contrast ratio's, thats irrelevant. Read the LCD thread at the top of this forum for an immense amount of information. I bought my Gateway 2400 the other day for $433.99 before tax. They wouldn't let me use a coupon but I didn't haggle with them being that the price on it was supposed to be $479. I love mine, especially the glossy screen. Colors look vibrant. There are reports of "crushed blacks" but I haven't seen that yet. IMO I would snap up the 2400 before they're gone, the multiple inputs and scaler chip make it worth $10 more.

Yeah, 1:1 scaling would be nice to have...I guess I'll have to run to bestbuy today to see if they still have em, they better! I was going to get one of these this week b/c I just ordered parts for my new PC...and I don't really want to buy it online incase I get a bad panel..would suck if they don't have any left :brokenheart:

Just bought the FHD2401 at bestbuy! It was $498 after taxes. The first guy at Best Buy I asked had no clue about this monitor and thought they didn't have it, but I asked a second person and he had it in stock so I decided to buy it. So far I've had no problems with the monitor, no bleeding or dead-pixel issues. I don't have anything to test the scaling stuff but 1080p movies on my harddrive look amazing, games run well and look great. Best Buy has this next to a Samsung 2493HM and in my opinion the glossy screen makes the colors more vivid and rich. My roommate has a Samsung Syncmaster 245BW so we compared the 2 monitors and he definitely liked mine a lot more. Unless you're in a very lighted environment, this monitor poses no problems due to reflections.

The quality of the stand is definitely not as good as the FHD2400 which is a big reason why I might buy the older FHD2400 and see if I like it better..(not sure if the higher contrast ratio and the response time of FHD2401 actually makes a difference). Best Buy has a 30-day return policy which is great...and who knows, the FHD2400 might be on sale within 30days so the cash back will be nice! The stand can tilt forward and backwards but that's it. You cannot slide it up and down like the FHD2400, and you cannot rotate it into portrait mode.

To see crushed blacks, you need to run dual screen: compare it with some other monitor at same time... I didn't see it either until I gotten my Dell 27" to compare against; and then it was visible how much of scene was black but it shouldn't have been.

I'm really interested in this monitor. I was going to buy the 2400 when I just came across the new version today. The 2400 was plagued with the backlight issues, so hopefully they got it right with this one.

It swivels up and down, forget exactly how much. It does not rotate though, and you can't adjust the height up and down like the FHD2400.

At least on my model, there are no backlight issues - I bought a FHD2400 that was on sale to try it out and you could definitely see the bleeding on the edges.

I bought this monitor on Sunday. Checked it for dead pixels at the store and looked OK but once I got it home it seems to have some issues with the color/brightness. Looking straight on at the middle of the panel - with just one solid color for a background - the top of the display is a bit darker than the rest of the screen. If I bring my head up to where my eyes are level with the top then the screen looks fine - even color all the way from top to bottom.
My question now is do I return it to Best Buy or just let it slide? Any feedback would be appreciated as this is my first LCD panel.

Just bought mine on Tuesday. Was able to view both the 2400 and 2401 on the floor. 2401 blacklight bleed is a lot less noticable. Also to note, the 2401 has a higher contrast ratio. While the viewing angle isn't the greatest, The color is amazing on this monitor.

I was able to pick up the fhd2400 at a St Louis BB for 359 + tx. Nice deal, loving it so far, no bleed or anything negative yet. Just wish I could find the sound bar for it.

I'm very glad to hear this because I live in Jamaica and I've cashed in on the $190 deal @ Newegg. I haven't seen the displays personally.

Due to shipping and such....I should be getting mine on October 8.

BTW: I'm coming from a 5ms, 19" widescreen Hanns-G @ 1440x900.
What do you think will be my reactions/impressions??
