Thanks for the feedback DocZaius and StaysCrunchy. Sounds like just what I need, so I just ordered a couple. Hope they are half as nice as my son's Logitech wireless.

I picked up a keyboard as well to replace my "free" Memtek one...hehe. Does anyone know if it comes with a USB connector or PS/2?

Also, if ppl are looking for other things to bump up their order over $10, they sell case badges too!! Picked myself up an Nvidia case badge and a Univ. of Texas Longhorn case badge as well. *woo hoo*

adinar: It comes with a USB connector.

Just some more info (since I ordered two more): I just formatted today and the keyboard driver/software and USB hub is automatically installed by Win XP with no problems. I connected my digicam and SmartMedia reader right to the keyboard. And, you can set the "Shopping" access key to load the ATHD forums like I did.

DrZaius: Do you mean that it's PS/2 with a USB adaptor, or is the cable itself USB terminated?

It's USB terminated, and all of the buttons are programmable with the software except for the top 4 which are for CD playing (prev, forward, play, stop).

I'm sure I just got a bad one out of the bunch, but I got a similar brown-boxed Gateway multimedia keyboard w/usb about a year ago from CompGeeks and the thing had this annoying habit of adding an extra space when tapping the spacebar (double spaces, in other words). Tried cleaning it; didn't help. It's now sitting in my closet. Instead of adding a space, it's taking up space!

Anyone have a pic of the real thing? Is the backspace key on this thing single letter-key
sized or double sized like many keyboards? I can't stand a tiny single-key sized backspace key!

I think these are made by LMS (Lite-On, Maxi-Switch, Silitek).
Not that this information will do you much good, since they are custom for Gateway, but you might be able to compare the quality/internals with something made by Maxi-Switch in the past.

Now that I've seen an actual pic of the keyboard I'm tempted to buy one. I'm trying to convince myself that I really don't need it considering I have a MS Internet keyboard pro, MS Office keyboard, MS Natural keyboard, Dell quiet keyboard, and a few other asst keyboards all still in the box. Oh, what to do, what to do....

Where on Gateways site can I find the drivers for this keyboard and Windows XP?

They had stacks and stacks of these at a recent computer show here in Cleveland. $5 for one and $4 in quantity. I bought several for family and friends and they've worked flawlessly with various OS's and PC configs (Win 98, Win XP mostly). No prob grabbing the programmable keys software at the Gateway site and making it all work beautifully.

I think most of these are returns due to the 'programmable keys not working.' In other words, people didn't know enough to install the software.

I started here and entered the specific part number on the bottom of the keyboard. There are many models, but most seem to use the same driver.

Good luck!

BTW, the two drivers I used were called 7511568.exe and 7510447.exe. The first one has XP drivers, the second lists Win98/SE/Me. You may find that the 98 works fine on XP.

How do you configure the stop play/pause forward/backward buttons on this keyboard?
