None of the above. I swore I will never buy another HP product again, and I wouldn't take Gateway over a Dell.

Gateway was bought by Acer several years ago. I have fond memories of Gateway's "cow" boxes from back in the 90s I'd be shocked if they are anything but rebadged Acer computers now. I don't think I've ever seen one advertised recently except (maybe??) when flipping past a home shopping channel on TV.

They have them on Newegg, quite a bit, plus refurbs.

We had a Gateway store in Plano (north Dallas) on US75... the building was painted in the cow print. I wondered why it closed... now I know. They had some pretty good competition, though... across the street from CompUSA and down the street from MicroCenter and Fry's.

Considering HP's quality/history, I'd go for Acer/Gateway any time of the day.

I use an Acer i3 mini-ITX desktop for a music jukebox and it's been working perfectly for 3 years now.

My brother and I got a similar Gateway i3 for our mom 2 years ago and it's still working too.

So for desktops, Acer/Gateway is fine.
