Had his own copy of OS, keyboard and Burner/DVD combo.
Total coin 700 bucks. Not bad for a killer game system.
Obviously I haven't put this together to test yet since we are waiting on the parts.
But it should perform well, I dunno about the ECS motherboard. Hopefully it will work out well.
Tho, if you were on a budget. If you didn't need a hard drive. Or just had an old 10 giger sitting around. Yeah 10 gig's might not be all that much. But if your just going to play games on it. Who cares? Anyway. If you had your own HD, and got a cheaper MX type Video card. Could probably get it down to 500.00
Yeah, this isn't no 2Ghz Pentium. But, I am sure this setup would kill the gateway deal.
For a gammer the Graphics card will make the difference. And as for as I am concerned. 1700+ Vs. 2Gig that's 300 mhz, you'll never see the difference unless you are crunching a HUGE database then maybe...But under day to day load you'll never notice.
The UPS to building your own system. Usually better parts. Even tho we skimped on the motherboard. A 300W Enermax is way better then anything gateway is going to give you. Gateway will not throw in a G3 with out spending some real coin.
The good in buying a pre built. Usually if something is DOA your covered. And you get a pretty good warranty Gateway or Dell. As long as you don't try to overclock anything you?re fine. Voiding the warranty is not good so cutting holes or other case mods is not an option. You don't have to waste time building and loading software and drivers.
That can be good or bad...
